Interested or not, Linux and localisations are the current step of the roadmap and many others are interested in them. Some can't play the game without them.

Yes, agreed! And I'm the last one who wants to take away the game from Linux and international players.

To make it clearer, what I was looking for was some info on what comes after those rightfully prioritized, but hardly exciting items. Just looking for some hopeful news in what I personally perceive to be a pretty doom-and-gloom phase for BT.

In addition to that, it turns out that Tyler Carpenter ...

Had to get that off my chest.

While it's certainly something that topically touches on our interests tangentially with the game, it is probably best we all don't go too deep into discussing the specifics of it as the related topics are ones that we normally avoid here.

Fair enough. Feel free to remove my post if you consider it topically inappropriate for this forum.

I get that, but what's in hand right now has to come before what's next. Even if that's not fun.

As a community some groups of players unfortunately go through these cycles of um, "emotional tides" at intervals. If you all recall, same last year during GenCon before MP went live.

Just adding my obligatory +1 to this thread.

I don't feel that there's anything wrong with how HBS are interacting with their players - interaction of any kind is strictly a luxury - but the information vacuum has started to sap my interest in the game. There's a very real risk that an amazing update could drop in the near future and I wouldn't find out for days, because I've stopped checking in here as often as I used to. That's a pretty big change from my position a few weeks back, of "I will buy whatever nonsense you throw at me because I'm looking for excuses to drop more money on this thing".

Considering that they're not even doing the localizations themselves, and that's Paradox's gig to get it done... I cannot see why HBS has failed to deliver on the promised post launch content the game was supposed to have. Thus, HBS saying that the localizations taking longer than expected shouldn't have anything to do with HBS making good on finishing the actual game.

Just my 2 cents

Having been a part of a company that was bought out by a larger one I am not a bit surprised by the silence from HBS, bummed out yes surprised? Nope.

We were purchased for our footprint in our geographic region and told we were going to be operating the same as we always had.

Our field crews, foremen, and project managers did, so the production work was getting done.

Those of us in the office? It was months for our billing, estimating, design, and approval processes to be integrated into the new owner's procedures.

For example, before buy out I could call my HVAC engineer PE, conference him with our HVAC installer co.and my draftsman. Work out the details, pricing, and .dwg verbally and then roll with the numbers, knowing that I would have hard copy/ ecopy in a few days that would mirror those numbers.

After buyout I was not allowed to do that. So a two hour conference call became an hour long conversation with the engineer, then an hour with the installation company, then an hour call back to the PE about installation concerns, then an hour conversation with the draftsman. I would then submit the .dwg to the PE for his stamps. Then the installation company would quote off of those .dwg.

This slowed down bid turn around time by two weeks to a month.

So my assumption is that the coding is getting done, but the thousand little detail of integration is damming the communications stream

Well, I guess we are in a hope for the best, expect the worst type situation? Lets see where communication goes after GenCon gets over this weekend. I know Mitch is there right now, having fun and meeting BattleTech fans.
Honestly, now is a damn fine time to actually make an announcement if Mitch is at GenCon... If we don't hear anything, which we have yet to... :(

Well I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I will say the biggest impact on my level of communication has been one thing: Launch.

We can talk a lot about the toll working on a project like BT takes, but often the words are incomplete and inadequate. I was pretty spent after we finished BT and we're not just talking about physical energy depletion, it's the emotional toll too. In my career of putting out games, I very often will not even play, look at, or even THINK about a project or it's subject matter post launch. I am a guy so surely this is a false equivalency, but I imagine this phenomenon shares traits and similarities with post-partum depression. Thankfully BT is a unique project in that I am very ready for more, still play it for fun, and am always cranking on new ideas for stuff to add value to the game.

That doesn't change the fact that energy stores need to be replenished. As many of you pointed out, us getting in here and mixing it up with you is additional time for our team members. It's energy expenditure, and when I am running low and have to choose where the fuel gets spent, I prioritize the work. That doesn't diminish my desire to interact with everyone here, but it does diminish my ability. We don't have dedicated time for this, so it's about stealing a moment to write something and also about having something genuinely useful to add. I read posts in here all the time, but as Mitch has said in the past, observing can be more useful for us than participating. Dev interaction will always color opinions and can shift a conversation.

So for my part, I won't chime in unless I think I can provide new clarity or real value.

That being said, with the game's release there was a large influx of new folks on the forums here offering feedback, bug reports, etc. While that stuff is great and useful, I'm already leveraging our internal review and bug reporting systems to pursue that work on the live product. There was a lot to add and improve post launch. Simply because the game is live out there doesn't mean we don't have a lot of work to do! Much of that work is fix oriented, it isn't the sort of collaborative two way conversation about concept we've had with the community in the past. It's cut and dry goals of stability and quality of life fixing. (At least my bugs were mostly!)

I'm excited to continue my work in BT and the stuff that's going on is really awesome. I can't give further detail beyond my personal hype for what's next. And the hype is real.

As for community interaction, I've received not a word of change in how we're expected to talk with y'all. Save for the obvious fact that we no longer just speak for our little HBS family with each post here, we're now representing the larger PDX organization. So care must be taken to be respectful of their modes and ways of conversing with all of you.

TL;DR. We're busy! People are taking much deserved breaks. And I'm working on stuff that I can't talk about just yet. I'm not gone away, just out of pocket for a moment. ;)

Yes I built half of them I think, all but like 6 of the Arena maps in the game. Kiva built River Crossing, Rocky Craters. Tyler built Alpine River, Big Loch, Death Valley, Central Mountain.

The rest is me. And any forthcoming Arena stuff will likely be me.

Thank you Good Sir @HBS_CaptKerberos, for that and all else.

Thanks for your continued support. You are most welcome.

Feeling emotionally depleted post launch is normal when you've invested a lot of yourself in a project.

Edit: I noticed the respectfully disagree to my post. You have obviously never invested yourself in anything over a longer stretch of time so I get why you don't understand. But if you want another public example go google search for Jake Solomon and his xcom post launch comments. You will probably also be able to find similar stories from any other developer you might admire. You will see the exact same reaction to launching a game.

@HBS_CaptKerberos, thank you for your response! Although I would love the increase in community involvement from HBS, I do understand, and agree with the fact that you guys are real life people, who needs some well deserved personal time.

I am personally enjoying this game very much still. Also, as a backer, I am absolutely delighted with the product that was promised, so thank you HBS team! I will be a continued customer, not only because of the awesome IP that is battletech, but HBS has been one of my favorite development teams due to your honesty and candidness as well as previous levels of involvement with the community which I'm sure will continue in the near future.

With that said, I think most of us in the community just want to know that you guys are as excited as we are for HBS to continue support and deliver future content for this game. That's why a brief moment of community silence maybe upsetting! Please continue to drop in from time to time, to help quell our anxiety on this topic! (Even though I know you guys are most likely hard at work).

Again, thank you for an awesome game, and looking forward to more. Enjoy your well earned and deserved breaks!

He said the hype is real folks. Something big is coming. Oh and in case anybody wants to know Mitch is at Gencon. He took a picture with a Kamea cosplay.
Unfortunately we have no information to be hyped about , lol..

So, not sure what that comment even means.

Honestly, if he couldn't talk about what they were working on... Well, I would infer from that statement that it's not finishing the game or what they promised 1-2 months post launch.

Whatever, at the end of the day they're a business and they need to make money...
However, I already thought they were doing that.

Yeah, while the reply was great, dont get me wrong, it was also kinda a non reply with little to no actual info or updated timeline for the blown 1-2 months timeline we are currently running on.
