arcorelli said:Nice session and all (Leon income grew by 50%, 2 nice COTs and the like)
But as I said ingame that one new pirate and I was out, I retire of the game.
Going from +40WS to 0 because you can't maintain your naval offensive is no my idea of fun (no use to send troops to take moroccan provinces when they can't go back to the fleet because they are fighting eternally some pirates).

Taelyn said:It was interesting to sub in the game last night, its a far different world from most games, that's certain. The setup resembles something more of a wargame than a historical simulation. There's a huge disparity in tech levels, the reason for which is not immediately clear.
The fundamental problem seems to be that the economic technologies in the game are far, far more advanced than the military techs, which is bizarre. Must have been a long, peaceful era at some point (Probably due to the massive amount of land that needed to be colonized before territory became scarce and conflict began).
Its also clear that some nations were far more able to utilize their cultures (HRE, Germany) than others (Sicily, Leon) - and that has led to some of the economic gap.
The events seemed a bit too beneficial. I had only a limited sampling, but none of them were all bad, and the harmful effects of most of them were far too feeble (200 ducats or a revolt or two is not significant at the stage the game is at) to inconvenience the HRE.
This isn't to mention the two events that gave me RMs with the opposing alliance. The alliances need to shift a little, and with half the game running with subs, its very difficult to shift the balance. Hopefully you'll be able to find permanent replacements, because bipolar worlds are dangerous places.
All in all, an interesting experience, but not the kind of game I prefer. Hopefully I left HRE in a position where they have a chance in hell of repelling the enormous German army, but given the incredibly weak condition of HRE's colonies, the dominating size of the German army (and her manpower reserves), and the alliance against the HRE, I don't think victory is achievable even with the CRT advantage she has over everyone on land and everyone but USB at sea. Hopefully someone with better diplomatic skills will take the HRE over.
