I've finished 1 game with HG, in that game he swapped places twice... I honestly think that he'll support anything that is a plus for his position and I personally don't have the time to argue or bitch and moan about this stuff do whatever you want. I am not playing with HG anymore, he doesn't listen to goddamned word I say and annoys the hell out of me in longterm play. He's a great sub and great player just not the type that I can rely on in a game longterm and is too stubborn... Everything my way, I'm always right, bah bah bahhhhhh. I can take a lot of shit, I'd opt to play a 100% Inflated 2 Province Venice than argue another sentence in this topic with HG when there is no point to it. You guys have fun... Good luck, I am sorry I made the mistake of inviting him again.

I've been reading the whining on both sides for a while now... and I just don't get it.

Firstly, how would an uber-Kiev and an uber-Mesopotamia threaten the HRE, where Kiev/Mesopotamia/Byzantium couldn't? Due to the regional differences in culture and religion, Byzantium can use that land more efficiently than Kiev or Mesopotamia. And even were it not for that, Byzantium's simple existence increases the likelihood of an Eastern power getting an uber-leader by 50%. Not to mention the increase in colonists -- vital for claiming Asia before the Westerners get there. Removing Byzantium would weaken the East, not strengthen it.

I have nothing against the monster partition in principle, but it seems like a pointless and futile exercise. If we have enough players to play the three Eastern countries, then there is absolutely no reason to do it. Byzantium is absolutely playable, and so are Kiev and Mesopotamia.

If Drew is bored of playing Byzantium, that's understandable... but why should we go to the massive editing efforts that a partition would involve when we could just find another player?

The partition in question would've greatly strengthened me relative to Germany. Your retreat into Drew's inane rhetoric aside, my objections were purely based on fairplay and, er... There being a point to playing at all, when a player who screws up routinely is dogging for unnecessary and even counter-intuitive edits.

His analysis of the game is way off base and obviously self-interested. And I'm not the only one who thinks so-check out Shig, Arco, Specter, Camisa...
