Greetings. I am wondering if Hearts of Iron 2 will be released on CD-ROM or DVD-ROM in North America? If it is released on CD-ROM, how many CD-ROM's will it be on.

Most likely CD-ROM, like the first one. I would also think that it would be on one CD, unless it's as big as Rome: Total War or Unreal, which I highly doubt.

The original HOI was 408 MB, BTW.

I don't care which it is on, as long as it can fit on one CD. I'm tired of games coming on multiple CD's when there is already a technology available to put them on one disc.

If they were 30 i would still be happy.
Perhaps you enjoy having lots of discs to lose, making the game unplayable. I've begun a general boycott over anything that takes up more then one disc.

Generally, they're pretty easy to keep track of IF you keep them in the jewel case and at home. Otherwise, yeah, you'll probably lose them. Yeah, it's frustrating at times, but when they can efficiently put 4 Gigs of gaming software on a CD-ROM, call me.

Usually, only one disk is needed to actually play the game. The other disks are for installation.

Which is why they need to move to DVD-ROM. They have been built in to most new computers for the last few years. The halflife 2 Collectors edition takes up more then five gigs and came on a single DVD.

That's true. Anyway, Paradox will probably have it all on one CD. If not, we'll just have to ask, "why not?"

It would make sense if it was on one CD, since this is what it has always been in the past. I just want to make sure before I spend any money on it.

I still hope it's on 400 Floppy Disks :D

Yeah, that was getting pretty outrageous. One of the last games I bought that came on the 3'5" took 7 of them. I forgot what it was, not Pirates Gold but something similar to that.

Mine was Civilisation.. Can't remember how many 3,5 Disks it needed, I think it were 4 or 5.

First on CD was Civilisation btw :D

Back in the times the games were published on Disks, the programms were all very good done, because of the space... today, everybody means it must be large to be good... when I bought Colin McRae Rally 2004, it were on 4 CDs.. Installation needed around 30minutes...

Thats another good point on Paradox Games: They don't need more space than a CD at all, given all the great stuff there is...
