I just want to ask a small question that's been lingering in my head for too long.

Will the highways that connect to the outside world have any vehicles just passing by for looks? Because when I looked at the stream, the vehicles in the highway seemed to only come if they were going in/out of the city. I just want to know if there will be random vehicles passing by that are not going into the city.

I know you guys have much more important things to work on, but I don't think it will take too much time to add, will it?

Oh, and just one more question that popped into my head while writing this:
Will we be able to make smaller roads for our outside connections in the map editor? Sometimes I think of making a small city or a town in a remote area where you won't see these big 6 lane highways. It would be nice to make some 2 lane roads going in and out of the city too. If not, how easy will this be to mod in?

This is a good idea, yes. there could be through traffic on the motorways that is not entering or leaving your own city - but instead is passing through. To travel from some non-existent neighbouring city or district - to another non-existent place somewhere else - and just happens to be using the motorway that is running through your city.

This would make the motorways look more realistic.

However, if your actual usage of the motorway for your own real traffic starts to reach the motorways capacity - it would be rather annoying to know that your motorways are having tail backs (traffic jams) partly due to "decorative" traffic clogging them up - traffic which you are unable to control or plan for (because you don't know where they're going - or where they're coming from - they would be coming from no real place - so its not like you could build a railway line to ease pressure on the motorways)

Still a nice idea though.

Worse case considering the information provided is that the road between the on map part and the out map part is a highway.
But right after the connection you should be able to change the road to what ever type you want with the map editor.
So in the end, you would only have 5 meters of highway or something like this.

Best case they allow other types of roads for the connection.

Yeah, it would look a bit weird, but it will work.

I'm sorry. All I can think of when I read "highway" is this: http://youtu.be/7zKAS7XOWaQ

Fantastic music. And to try to relate to the topic, the flow-through of traffic is also a good idea. Most big cities are built at vital transportation points (or intermediary points) while they have draws which force traffic through. As far as I see it, it only adds a good challenge. And you know, the big international airport which is outside the city by say 80-100 km and nowhere close to the actual city should draw traffic from all directions, traffic which is forced through the city.

That made me think of something.

If your city has an airport, maybe people from imaginary nearby towns come to your city to use it, because the towns don't have their own. Just something cool, and it might benefit for you, because they might use some of your services, or buy things from shops.
