First of all, greetings to everyone. I've been lurking for a long time now, learning all sorts of really interesting things which have immensely improved my experience with HOI II.
That said, up to now i've mainly stuck with mobility focus/spearhead land doctrine in every situation it was even remotely resercheable. After reading some of the stuff here i realised the limitations of my knowledge on the subject and in a Poland game i decided to try out infiltration assault. There is one thing that is quite puzzling me. Post 1942 night attack and defense bonuses are very easy to check (e.g. +50% bonuses that turn -80 night attack into -30 and -33 defense into +17 respectively) but i am having a very hard time understanding how the game applies the night movement bonus. I've decided to crunch the numbers. I loaded a Germany game which has progressed into '46, I took a level IV ('43 IIRC) Gebirgsjager Division and tried moving it from Kustrin to Dax on the Spain-France border. 0700, 19th may and it listed ETA of 13th june. Level IV mountain division in the Poland game lists 20th july-13th august. I have removed chiefs of staff which give land speed bonuses, and of course Germany has Mobility/Spearhead doctrine. It would be great if somebody knows how does the aforementioned night movement bonus applies in the game. My ballpark guess was that the 50% night movement bonus on a one month journey should add up to a quite sizeable reduction of the overall time of the movement. Thanks in advance.
