Greetings fellow members of Paradox Forum! I have been a member back a few years ago (and sadly couldn't retreive my old account) and a silent reader for a while now.
There is a though that kept me wondering regarding the Europa Universalis siries (never played any game in this siries) - is there a special custmizations for countries. In particular my interest lies in the Ottoamn Empire. I believe most of the members have heard about the Yeniceri (Janissaries), which were the slave soldiers of the Sultan and were picked through a mechanism called Devshirme which meaning picking up in Turkish. Adding this system to game, would be a great addition to the game which will make the game more realistic.
The Devshirme system which was the recruiment system of the Janissaries. Every few years a task force would be sent to a certain areas (mainly to the Balkans, but also to the caucasuses, depending on the era) and had picked young, talented boys. Those boys were brought to the capital study different things (such as poetry, langauges, algebra, etc.) and had been trained to be elite soldiers. However those who showed capabilities in different fields could advance to higher positions in the imperial hirerachy and aquire considerable power (some become part of the Royal Divan, the Imperail council). For example, there were times when the Grand Vizier,a jannisary, was de-facto ruler of the Empire (speically due to the personal weakness of the Sultan or lack of motivation to be involved in the management of the Empire).
Moreover, the Jannisaries were a formidable force for themselves.
For all the mentioned above, in my opinion there should be some kind of represention to the Devshirme withing the game. In my opinion a player of the Ottoman Empire should be able to send a task force to a certain area and recruit boys through the Devshirme. Then, the player can receive an event about a boy that shows extraordinary talent in a certain area and can decide whether he likes to promote him or not (which will have both negative and positive influences).
Overall, I belive that if this system is represtented in the game, this will create a realstic depth to the games of Paradox.
Greetings,
Fremen.

I humbly apologize for my mistakes in English.
