A question on retinues...

I have a quick question on raising retinues in CKII. I'm no stranger to the game, by any means, but as of LoR, when they have added the new retinue system, I'm quite unsure of how to go about raising them or using them. Could anyone offer me some insight? I'd love to know how to properly utilise them.

Under the military tab is where you buy them.

I havent played much since the retinue thing got put in but i have yet to raise any retinues...i see the tab in the military screen but its all grayed out even after forming several kingdoms...what conditions do i have to make?

first you need the legacy of rome dlc to even be able to raise Retinues. after that the calculations for how large they can be is based off of your direct levis. just work at making the number of men you can normaly levi higher and study the military orginization tech and you'll eventualy get what you're looking for

Is the TAB greyed out, or the small plus buttons beside the retinue names?
