Just a wee little open question ...

Is the game at a stage where design suggestions are at all useful, or is it more or less finished?

Since I know less than nothing about game design, I am just curious as to whether all the content suggestions on this forum are of any real use or inspiration to the designers, or not. :)

How long before release did they start that forum.

I don't know - I didn't really follow HoI, because I'm not really interested in WW2 simulations.

Judging from other Paradox games, suggestions are always welcome, even after the game comes out.

EuII is still evolving, almost a year after it was released.

Judging from my experience with HOI the fundamentals of the design are certainly set. And of course, anyone asking for dramatic changes (away from real time, or away from province-based) is going to be disappointed.

But the game is only in an alpha build. I think features were still being added/dropped/modified even into the beta-testing process for HOI.

So I'm guessing, but there may be room for suggestions. The problem we players have is we'd be suggesting into a vacuum - we don't know what they've already decided on.

I think one of the advantages of using the eu engine is that things can easily be changed fast. so i think they can change most basic things even after game is released...

Even when things are fairly well set we will still give our design opinions/wishes. It always happens. So letting us know how far along and what is in the game might change between now and release.

My feeling is that the design and coding is fairly far along. If enough work has been put into the project that Paradox is showing us a screenshot already they must be pretty far along. Maybe a lot further along that HOI was this time last year when it was announced.:)

Manual? Who needs it. What, I think, that Paradox should be providing is, instead of a manual which will likely become outdated/useless, they simply provide a fifty-odd page "history book" to give a basic synopsis of all the major events of the era.

It'd be far more interesting than that...thing that came with HOI. :)
