The AI processes it's required evaluations before a new tick (hour).
Some updates are done daily, some hourly, some weekly etc. The speed has nothing to do with that.
The AI doesn't pause an evaluation because it's on speed 4 and needs to move onto the next tick. The game should wait for the AI to finish evaluating and then go onto the next tick
That's why on speed 5 you don't go infinitely fast, because the computer has to process stuff, draw it onto the screen etc. Otherwise you'd see better AI in computers with high end CPU's vs ye old potato laptop
