Another interesting question is whether food will be diversified into groups, such as grains and fruits. The Russian Empire can easily provide for itself with livestock and grains, but would have very small amounts of fruits from within the borders.
Also, for the more industrial side, I wonder if food processing and canneries will be in. Something like food is almost completely necessary to give rotw countries the cash generating export to Europe that they will use to purchase manufactured goods.
Well, depends what you're looking for. Russia does not have exotic fruit but I think they have their own range of Fruit berries and vegetable.......
That would not make them an exporter of fruit but at that time those were usually for local consumption and exotic fruit remained a luxury until fairly recently.
I agree introducing various sorts of food would a nice idea. The basic categories categories would be Grain, meat/fish, Fruit /vegetable.
The changes in agriculture and in the food industries were very much part of that time. Fishing was an important industry and there was the apparition of canned food and refrigeration which had a massive impact on society. By the way, there will be something about whale fishing or seal hunting which were rather important inportant industries.
EU2 did no take that asprct into account while famines where common throughout the time frame of the Game. In the XIXth century those gradually disappear from Europe though there were still many exemples.
