Hey all.
I've been playing as the Count of Niederbayern for now and I had managed get some allies and had started a war to depose my liege, the young Count of Bavaria. I wanted him to be gone. I was just about to win the war when something happened. The Emperor of the HRE had recently won a holy war on Sardiana and used his new holdings to create the Duchy of Sardinia which he then granted to me. Out of the blue I might add. I'd not had any real relations with him aside from him fostering a kid of mine.
So I wonder why he would deed a no name count a duchy and one of damn Sardinia to boot. The most likely reason I can think of is that he by granting me the title pulled me out from under my former liege, thus stopping my war before it was concluded and securing peace in his southern part. The other is that it's random chance.
So, I wonder, which one is it? Should I admit that the AI outsmarted me or was it chance? If it's the first, then that's pretty damn cool. He practically made me powerless in one fell swoop. I'll need some time to sort my alliances again and gain casus belli again to expand in Bavaria. So he sort of punished me by promoting me. Brilliant!
Anyhow, what are you guys take on it?
