It should be monarchy

The term 'democracy' is simply one of three terms used in Hearts of Iron 4 to put each nation into an idealogical faction. (Democracy, Fascism and Comintern). It's not meant to describe exactly what the government type is.

For example:
- The United Kingdom was a constitutional monarchy whose government was consistently run either by the Conservative Party, or the Labour Party, both comparatively moderate, so they come under 'Democratic'.
- The Kingdom of Italy was a constitutional monarchy whose government was run by a fascist regime under Mussolini, hence it comes under 'Fascism'.

Persia, of course, was also a constitutional monarchy. The question is not really whether Persia would support Germany or not, or whether it had a King. It's mostly about the idealogical attitude of its ruling government and people at the time.

Good answer :)

I believe that the government type for Persia will be correct, what you see on the Wiki page isn't complete yet since we do not know what
Code:
government_type = constitutional_monarchy/dictatorship
each country is using as opposed to
Code:
ideology = democratic/communism/fascist

So the UK is also probably going to be a monarchy which means that when you open the country screen you will see a portrait of the King, should it become a republic I assume you will get an image of Churchill. How this works isn't clear 100% since in some of the streams you see Churchill and in others you see the king...

Persia should be Non-Aligned, surely? Many of the game's monarchies and non-fascist autocratic regimes will fall into that category.

Yeah, there's not three but four ideologies. Democratic, Fascist, Communist and Non-aligned. The Non-aligned ideology is mostly used for countries under monarchy that's not quite fascist.

Note that it doesn't have anything to do with foreign political alignment. Switzerland is a democracy, for example, despite being (historically) non-aligned.

In fact, I think the majority of countries will probably be Non-Aligned. There are probably only about 5-6 proper fascist governments in 1936.
