I have had this... possible game idea floating around my head for quite a few months now and have begun developing it, though I am far from having it fully completed... or even fully comprehensible. My current intentions are not to have it up until February/March of 2014 or later, but I figure getting started early and getting feedback from people who know this a heck of a lot better than I do might be good.

Note: I was a member of Fingon's Promise of Progress and was quite sad to see it go, but trust me this isn't me being opportunistic... I'm actually quite concerned for my mental sanity if I may truly intend to start this up. :p

The only title I've been able to think of so far is Shattered World 1900. Nothing fancy, but it could suffice I suppose.

History behind the Game: History diverges from its course in the 1810's (again, not fully developed) in a World with Severe social unrest across the Board paralleling that leading up to the year 1848 OTL. It first stems within Napoleonic France. Within this Alternate History a great deal of the French people are far more wary of Napoleon's Empire and have begun to grow in unrest. Whilst Napoleon's Empire now seems to stretch across Europe, mass uprisings occur at home. A Civil War breaks out (I'm thinking in 1813) within the French Nation with 3 Primary Factions; Napoleon who's main power is garnered in the South of France, "True" Republicans who believe in submitting to a degree of "Englishness" such as Forming a Parliamentary State based upon the GB Gov't and they primarily control the coastal regions of Normandy, Brittany, and along the Bay of Biscay, and Pro-Monarchists based in the remaining regions of Frances Interior (including Paris). This Civil War quickly stalemates as Napoleons forces quickly thin and the sides become numerically equal. With British intervention there has been enough sway to force a peace to be made. As negotiations of any sort fail to occur, it is simply decided to allot each of the Factions the land they occupy. (This being seen by the British as a perfect Ploy of crippling France from once again becoming a unified warmongering Behemoth.

Around the same time the OTL War of 1812 is ongoing and the British have the war strongly in their favor. The Attack of Fort McHenry was a British success and Baltimore, like the Capital, was burned. This results in massive divides across America as they see the US Gov't as leading the nation back to defeat and subservience to Great Britain. Regions begin in Mass successions of Various Regions to the extent that the US was in all reality no longer sovereign. The British hope to capitalize upon this division, but unrest at home forces them to leave the divided States be (GB unrest to be discussed later). In order to avoid mass bloodshed representatives of the various seceding groups decide to plan to division of the Old US at what becomes known to be the Delaware Accords. (Divisions to be posted some other time)

As for the Unrest within Great Britain, shortly after the Collapse of France and Burning of Baltimore a good amount of self-styled Jacobins rise up within the Northern Regions of England calling for movement to greater democracy. This revolt fails miserably, but fans the flames for mass revolts of another kind, ethnic revolts. First the Irish, then the Scots, and finally Welsh all rise up in mass Revolution and a new wave of Jacobins rise up in London. The Civil War is bloody and during its course many English colonies simply loose faith, declaring Independence in great number unless Britain can succeed in quelling her chronic unrest at home. England is unable and the Empire shattered although the English system of government (Although now only in England) remained alive.

Generally I intend that the sudden and shocking collapse of Britain convinces many in an already unstable world to rise up and in general the World Order that once was is shaken and the concept of Great Powers gone.

This is just the early conglomerations of my mind, but I really wanted to get this public to see if the Idea strikes anyone. Granted I have not yet been able to put up Game Mechanics (though I have them semi-planned out), but I do intend to post expanded and more sensible histories, specific nation bio's, and other things periodically.

NOTE: I will not be super available the next few days as I have much to do this weekend... I just wanted to get this out while my ideas were still fresh.

I have some ideas for splintering US. For one thing, we could go with the conspiracy by Burr and some others succeeding in breaking taking over Louisiana, possibly dragging the old northwest along. Tejas and Alta California could snap off of Mexico even without the US. Maybe some kind of wild libertarian frontier republic in the Oregon territory. Hawaii is an independent monarchy much more likely to remain that way.

Without a sole power to deal with, and with a half dozen or so countries to trade with for arms, Indians of the Great Plains and Rockies would have a better time than they did historically, the cherokee might have a fighting chance at keeping their homelands, and of course depending on the start date you can have a Mormon theocracy in there.

For an added twist, you could have a united HRE with all of Italy and Germany, with Jacobin seperatists about to pull it apart at the seams.
