Hi everyone !
I was just wondering why Louis XI the "evil genius" (don't quite know how to translate génie démoniaque) has such pitiful stats (4 3 2).
the guy is the "father of french centralisation", he got rid of all the feodal lords that were preying on France (the armagnacs, that he killed to the last, even children  - the bourgogne house, taking back burgundy and most of flanders as a dowry for his son marriage- the appanage of Berry ...)
while he was not a genius tactician on the battlefield, he knew how to use war as the continuation of politics by other means.
I would say he is a 5 6 3 at least

no leader just sat around their computer playing video games. They all did something great or not so great. The 4.3.2 already gives this french leader an edge, probably undeserved. Since maybe its not the leader, but the people hes leading, that made him any great

Game starts other than 1444 don't contain information as accurate as the 1444 start.
Paradox knows, but it's a huge volume of work and these problems are low priorities.
If you want to, you can edit the game files yourself to fix the problem - it's now like you're playing Ironman anyway :)

Louis XI was really a great monarch, from a long term perspective. He wasn't very charismatic, but the measures he took put France on the road to greatness.

In reality, the importance of a monarch to the general progress of a nation became less over time in the EU period. The decision to tie technological progress so strongly to the monarch is an odd one.

4/3/2 translates to 3/3/3, ie an average guy; nothing about an edge. Actually, it's even a poor one for France; with lucky the average would be 4/4/4.

actually I do play ironman : he is the heir in the 1444 start ^^
edit : also he was quite charismatic, the one that didn't like him were the "great" peoples of the times, he was quite popular with the people even going to rebuild Toulouse after a fire. and imho you don't survive a coalition of all the feodals of France (meaning also brittany and burgundy) without some charism
