Arthur of Brittany (204505) was the son of Duchess Constance of Brittany and Geoffrey Plantagenet, a younger son of Henry II. The issue is that he was born posthumously, but this isn't represented in the history files, and I can't imagine it can be.

Though not strictly accurate (he wasn't born until March), I think that if we change Arthur's birth date to 1187.1.1 then he'll be born in time for the Third Crusade scenario and so England will have a more accurate (and interesting) line of succession.

Code:
204505 = {
	name="Arthur"
	dynasty=106
	martial=4
	diplomacy=7
	intrigue=6
	stewardship=6
	religion="catholic"
	culture="english"
	father=204511
	mother=205740
	[COLOR="#FF8C00"]1187.1.1 = {
		birth="1187.1.1"
	}[/COLOR]
	1203.4.3 = {
		death="1203.4.3"
	}
}

Historically John had to... take care of Arthur before he could become king.

As I say, it's not technically accurate, but as Constance was already pregnant with him then I think this would be a good compromise, otherwise it leaves one of the most popular start dates with an ahistorical succession for England.

I understand if you don't want to change this, but I thought I'd mention it as I don't think it's a particularly bad idea.

On a related note, Geoffrey the Handsome is still missing some children.

I've had kids born posthumously in-game, so why shouldn't it be possible to make him posthumous?
It's possible in-game, yes, but it can't be specified in the history files, and so this example wouldn't be possible.

There's actually another problem with posthumous heirs in that the game doesn't recognize when a ruler's wife is pregnant if he dies, and so the throne would go straight to the next heir, even if it turns out the woman in question was carrying the previous ruler's son. This means the legitimate senior line can continue independent of the actual ruling line, even under Agnatic Primogeniture.

I've seen this before with France, whereby Hugues becomes king when Philippe dies, only for him to then be succeeded by a boy, so the Capetian line and French throne go down the junior branch.

It's pretty complex, though, and I'm not sure if it's even possible to fix. You'd have to have some sort of regency system in place.

I hope Paradox find a way to fix it. But yes it seems to be not easy, because a unborn character (and so a nonexisting character) would inherit...

In my opinion, having him be born on 1187.1.1 and have his mother stay on as duchess, which she historically was. Will make playing Brittany in the 3rd crusade scenario almost impossible, since arthur is of a different dynasty then
his mother.

So the current set-up is wad and won't be changed.
