May I give you a hint, which always worked for me in my Muscovy games.
Don't press in the Ukraine too fast. Turks to the south, Lithuania/Baltikum in the west, scandinavia in the north and the rest of GH in the east is very difficult, just my 2 cents.
I always took the area east of the wolga first too the ural and then you can easily push in the ukraine or belorussia. If you have conquered the european Part of Russia, you cant lose anymore. Then I usually stop playing, because boredom of settling the corridor, wladiwostok etc kills all the fun of eu2.
