I know, that's for sure a controversial topic ...

... but as much I loved some of the beautiful soundtracks of CK2, after some hours of gameplay any of these tracks was annoying, if not torturing as hell ... at least make an option for the non-smartphone generation to have just an atmospheric endless non-annoying loop ...

No offense Devs, but maybe check ancient Baldur's Gate to hear a good example ... it seems to be a fundamental design decision, but for me soundtrack I want to listen actively is not the same I want to have as a background music ...

"Non-annoying" is a pretty subjective thing. What you find annoying, the devs might find fabulous and vice-versa.

Ofc you're right here ... "not distracting" and "background music" are maybe better words ... still subjective, though ...
However, I really like the soundtrack of the CK3 trailer ... and I hope they keep things that way ...

I think you would eventually get tired on the music given that a soundtrack will always be limited and a loop is no solution here I think:rolleyes:

I've listened to my own music playing Paradox games instead of in-game music for a long time.

Sure, but these don't "follow" the game'as actions or situations.

There was/is a great music collection mod for CK2 called VIET music or whatever. Not only did it add a lot of cultural music, it mixed in quiet ambient tracks, like birds chirping and other natural sounds. As great as the music in these games is, there are moments when less is better imo.

You can already just put music volume to zero so you will only hear ambient sounds.

lol ... that was just kind of a rant, bc I feel old ... well, actually I am :/
You're old... but you still write... with those annoying... ... everywhere? People didn't learn to write in those days?
Anyway, you don't seem actually that old, you look like the kind of person who feels the need to be elitist about older games in every conversation.
No matter how irrelevant the comparison with BG is.

Maybe some really creative soundtracks could help? Like to make loops and transitions as seamless as possible so that it feels like continuous, yet changing music and not first song-second song-third song.
