Yesterday I was playing Portugal - one of my favourite countries recently - and around 1550 as my the colonial dynamism was declining I converted from Catholicism to Protestantism in order to get more settlers. The one-time money effect of 1650 ducats was the icing on the cake. My stability of course tumbled to -3, some of my provinces started to rebel, but I've managed to put them off. However after a couple of months suddenly my government collapsed and I was forced back to Catholicism again, with the nice advantage of having a stability of +3 again. I have tried this again for a couple of times, and by doing so I've earned more than 4000!!!! Ducats within 5 years with the cost of only loosing some troops due to revolts, and the collapse of the governments. I wonder if there are other seatbacks to this strategy I've missed so far. Any ideas ????
