It is late August 1957, and the evil Axis are still holding out against the mighty liberator - the USA (played by a human). While Japan is now bombed to ruins, the superior Luftwaffe has prevented the Allied Boeing B-52s from doing similar to lovely Germany. Our attempt to drop a Nuke on Berlin was the worst air disaster in history. We went in with 4 wings of STR (as part of the stack with the nuke) and 4 wings of TAC to provide escort until just before Berlin (as they would get vaporized if they were over Berlin when explosion occurred) and 8 wings of fighters for escort over the Baltic. The bombers had the most modern ESC/FTRs attached, and the fighters were the best possible for this time - supersonic F-100 Super Sabres.

But Goring blind sighted us with fielding numerous stacks of far superior INT-XI improved super sonic - which historically are year 1959. But the German AI achieved the tech and numerous stacks upgraded to devastate our Berlin attack a month ago (early July 1957). Somehow the AI was about 3 years advanced - and our spies totally missed detecting that.

Anyway... the air disaster... on the first encounter while going in we we got chewed to shreds, before we even reached Stralsund. And when the Luftwaffe attacked again during our return, we lost outright 4 FTR wings and 2 each for the TACs and STR. But many of the remaining survivors were alive only by 2-3 strength points.

After 7 weeks of major reinforcing and deploying differently in Europe, the USAAF was brave enough to try again. But this time we would try to nuke Cologne (flying from liberated United Kingdom) to make a big dent in Hitler's IC while hopefully being a safer endeavor. Nobody wanted to risk flying over the Baltic again - so Berlin was safe.

We started this campaign against Colonge by having other bombers create a diversion on the Eastern Front for a couple days beforehand to hopefully first draw some of Goring's many fighter wings eastward. Then we went in with a stack of STR carrying the nuke - commanded by our best Superior Tactician and Carpet Bomber, the sauve Air Marshal Le May. For escort - as far as Liege - there were 12 fighter wings.

It was perfect weather and an uneventful flight going in. Then the FTRs stopped and waited while the STRs went alone the last province to drop the nuke. Just as they reached Cologne they were intercepted. But something happened... it all occurred so quick... the bomb dropped.... and ALL the Luftwaffe intercepting our bombers got vaporized!

Maybe this is a new strategy of how to succeed in air-to-air combat against far better opponent?

I'm impressed on how late your still playing this one till. lol 1957?? Wow I haven't made it past 1948. Normally I get the itch to play another country and restart. I should start flipping to my opponent that I just crushed to make it more challenging like you did when you flipped from Germany to the USA

Yes, its true. I think I actually flipped from Germany to SU (to stop Barbarossa) and then to Japan to so eventually rule the seas and even annex UK with Japanese forces, and finally to USA to first save the States, and then liberate the world.

As such, the "enemy" has build up astronomical amounts of troops and aircraft.
