Precisely. My info came from another of Coogan's books, "The IRA". A mite rambling, but decent.

The info re Begin (commander of the Irgun in pre-state days) came from a book, "Inside Terrorist Organizations" by David C. Rapaport. Circular influence: Begin studied Collins. The IRA in the 80s used Begin's memoirs as a manual on guerrila warfare, apparently.

How about an editor where you could make your own maps. Define rivers, terrain and province borders individually.

great idea, but IMPOSSIBLE to implement due to AI coding/ country defining etc.

dude, i'm willing to check
but we need to wait for hoi 2.. so it'll take a while. :)

I'm not so sure that you are right about the size of armies here back on 48..

there were 600,000 israelis here
and if a division (according to hoi1) is 10,000
i believe we had a couple of these. but i'm not 100% sure.

We also got a couple of armored units after some time (i actually mean by single numbers, there were 5 or 6 or 7 cars or so) and about 3 planes, or 1. I don't remember...

Didn't the Us send reinforcements in form of commanders to israel then?

i remeber that movie with the guy that played spartacus when he was a general in the independence war in israel.

btw, who's collins? and did begin command a war?! I remember he was just our prime minister (which signed the peace treaty with egyps at the 70s), not a general or something.. altough he was the had of the Etzel or Lehi if I remember correct.

the problem with the independence war is that there wasn't an acutal united army. all of the 'underground' armies like the Palmach and the Ha'gana and Eztel and such primarily fought together, but i don't think they had a single leader. perhaps some leaders worked to gether

i think that after the war ben-gurion was selected to be the head of the government and this is when he decided to unite all of the above into one organized army.

just for you to know, i'm not 100% that what iv'e said here is absoloutly correct. I'm going to study in school about that time next year, so all i've written here is from my general knowledge which is not that precise. sorry for da inconvience guys

i have some books about the war and some charts with size of the israeli army in the begining of the war

AND DON'T FORGET CHINA !!!!!

In HOI1 it's too easy to conquer and annex China as Japan. I think this is totally impossible for a nation like Japan to conquer whole China (as it is for Germany to annex the Russia)

So China and Russia need at least two times more provinces !!!!

...and europe and rest-asia and Afrika and America and australia.. :D

more provinces for russia, surely

but need to made it correctly, trans-siberian way areas must be defenetly more density with provinces, to cut off such connections when you can march from north pole to beijing through just few steps like in vicky

but what makes so right to split very north provinces? i dont think its neccessary, there wasnt any battles at all, not of anyhow industrial or manpower importancy, its came later when oil and ores has been found there in 70th, so such cuncks of area like yakutsk or surgut can be still quite big ;)

It's not just a supply matter... but a space matter. You can't fit 1500 soldiers in a 3m x 3m dining room... that's the same. The provinces doesn't have a infinite space, and that's why I think there should be a limit on deployed troops (and also limits on any side troops, to avoid "filling" the provinces to not loose them).

Please please please do not neglect this.

The wastness of Russia should not be reflected in HUGE provinces, but many of them, the last HOI game had more provinces between Berlin and Paris than between Berlin and Moscow or atleast pretty close.

Monsterous sized provinces ruins the battle on the eastfront.

Janster

It may be irrelevant, but the shortest routes I have found in number of provinces is 8 Berlin to Paris and 8 Berlin to Moscow...

Its all relative; and I think there are bigger provs in russia because the pop-density is much lower.

But note that such limits should be unbelievably high. Just take a look at the Eastern front where huge numbers of divisions were pressed into a relatively small area and were still able to fight. Stalingrad, Leningrad, Warsaw, Kyiv pocket, Courland...
Cheers

The buildings there had layers .

But more seriously; I think Too crowded provinces are really very bad; and they should either lose infrastructure; or industry in a way.

Or Population; if there are POP's ... Look what happened to Stalingrad
