Welcome to what I hope is a new and fresh idea in AARand, it's probably been done before and probably failed because it is not a very good idea, but I'm going to give it a go and see what you guys think.

Basicaly the AAR takes place near a farm house somewhere in France, there is a battle raging and you are in command of a Platoon of the BEF.

Each time you take a 'turn' you will be given a short AAR of what happened, then you will have to give orders based upon what has happened and what your options are.

This is an experiment so it is very short.... but if you like it I shal do a longer one, the aim is eventually for you to be able to take command of a battle or maybe even a campaign. However, this willl take a lot of work so I want to know if anyone is interested first.

So please try it out and see what you think, and post I dont mind if you all want to say it's rubbish or not a proper AAR... thats fine just tell me what you think.

Anyway I'll post the first situation in a few minuites...

Sir Clive.

Your Orders;

You are in command of a Platoon split into three sections, your orders are to hold you ground and if possible to route the expected German attack which will be coming soon.

Terain;

You are situated in a farm house facing towards the inement German attack. In front of you is a river with embankments good for fireing positions. The attack will come from across the Stone bridge which is infront and to the right, it has high stone walls.

As well as the farm house and embankment there is an old wall that gives moderate protection but covers the bridge that your foe will be coming across.

Decision;

Two sections to Fram House & one to old wall

or

One section to Fram house, old wall and enbankment

or lastly

Two sections to Enbankment and one to old wall

The decision is yours.

*NOTE* The links will take you away from the forum to my own site to play the game as it is not posible to do this on the forum.

*REMBER* This is a very basic idea of how the 'AAR' works so please be gentle. ;)

Why a negative statement within the titel when this idea is totally AWESOME!

Of course you have to work out how and what for the game, and the combination of the AAR and stuff, but nice idea.

This seems like a lot of work so good luck and if u need help, im sure others can help you.

Just some improvments i would suggest to you to make it more interactive, maybe you already thought of this, but here goes

- Post the different choices and let the readers make a choice in the thread
- Then after each day/2 days/week, the consequences of that choice will be published and next choice has to be made, this can continue as many steps as the situation requires
- In the end you will have persons who have made the right choice who can advance to another level, or perhaps as a reward post a small AAR about the battle
- You could work with a military system of promotion and let ppl advance through the ranks by making the right choices, but also perhaps a bit of politics (have installed leaders first who have to be convinced)
- All players can develop their own character as much as they like, have their own tactical/strategical character shine through and thus have different opinions and stuff

Seems too be getting quite big, but it could be very cool indeed. Just gotta get a good basic setup and infrastructure, then it should be very cool indeed.

Well, this idea seems very interesting, and I vote for you to continue it, but it will demand much work from your side, I hope you are up for it :D

The next 'AAR' will be May 1940, Germany's attack on France ad the low countries... it will take some time but I am hoping it will be ready sometime tomorrow (no promises ;) )

First some questions;

Do you want it presented like it was orignialy or do you prefer OV's idea of keeping it 'in thread' where the majority decide the next option?

Germany or Allies? which would you rarther command?

Sir Clive.
