I know the devs are still hard at it addressing bugs.

However would it be possible to get a new AMA on Reddit in the near future.

Now that we have had chance to play the game I'm sure we have more focused questions to ask on the actual gameplay and how things tie together under the bonnet of the game.

Just a thought.

How about using https://www.mantisbt.org/ to keep a track of bugs, give users able to vote this is important bug to be fixed (generates roadmap where to focus attention).

If I also remember correctly users can contribute merging same bug threads into one or at least report those. The biggest advantage though is whole system is trying to minimize duplicate reports so less time is consumed browsing trough bug reports.

Just my 2 cents

Seriously, we need feedback from the devs and we need it now, not in three months time. We need to know what their priorities are, we need to know they are actually listening to us, and we need to know they are going to fix the core gameplay problems and not leave all the hard stuff up to the modders.

Come on, devs! It's been a month and you've been flooded with feedback. Why are you silent?

Please elaborate. We've been actively posting, gathering feedback, patching (twice) and interacting with the community on a daily basis since release.

There's a content update in the making that has been discussed in several places aiming to add tunnels & wall to wall buildings. We have announced and elaborated on our expansion plans both pre and post launch. There's been many posts explaining our focus on fixing bugs and issues first hand, not only on Paradoxplaza but also on reddit, SteamHub, facebook, twitter and other forums.

Not trying to come off as rude here, I'm legitimately wondering where you're looking for information so that we can make things more visible for you and others.

I second the suggestion of a roadmap and hoping to hear more from the devs. I don't blame them if they are busy as of the moment since they are still squashing out nasty bugs. I do not know any bugs by heart but I do hope everything under the hood will work as they have intended to. I am only hoping some kind of calamity as basic as spreading fire, teacher/doctor strikes due to lack of funding and others such as meltdown/destruction of utility services due to over capacity would be very nice. I know the game is challenging and all but if ever I did something wrong I would prefer some self-made calamities to happen to me rather than people just basically moving out.

But I have to say that the devs, have done a great job with less and hopefully we will see that huge colossal order building in real life pretty soon.

Not trying to come off as rude here, I'm legitimately wondering where you're looking for information so that we can make things more visible for you and others.

This is a Paradox game so I expect official announcements and interaction between the developers and the community in here. Don't mention Steam, I only log in to Steam because I am forced to and I spend as little time as possible interacting with it (please don't get side tracked into the whys and wherefores of why Steam sucks and I would happily uninstall it if I could, just take it as a given). I don't do reddit or twitter and Facebook's format is simply appalling for thoughtful, sophisticated interaction, not to mention how easy it is to miss or not receive announcements.

Paradox game, Paradox forums.

Obviously nobody is going to read every post of every thread so you could do worse than reviving the apparently defunct Official Information & Announcements thread. Apart from the odd post about translations and wiki stuff there's basically been nothing since early to mid-March, ie game launch. Since then apparently nothing official has been announced. I know about the patches because their threads were stickied too, and I'm not complaining about early patches fixing some obvious bugs that got through beta testing.

However, I have absolutely no sense of where the developers are planning to take the game. I've heard about the tunnels and wall-to-wall buildings on the forums, and they are fine, but I've seen nothing official. And what about after that? I read the interview with CO's CEO and quite frankly I am afraid CO intend to ignore core gameplay problems and leave them to the modders. That would be a huge mistake but in the absence of any kind of roadmap what is anyone to think?

I don't know how many other people share my sentiment but the lack of official developer commitment to fixing the core gameplay problems is actively reducing my interest in the game as it now stands. It has the most fantastic potential but unlike some, perhaps, I have exactly zero interest in trying to game the game just to get it to work. Nor have I any interest in spending the rest of my Skylines life fighting incompatible mods just to get the game to do the things it should be doing vanilla. Been there, done that, not worth the grief.

So, I know what I want, I'm here and I'm prepared to make my case, but I don't see the promised interaction. If the developers and management and marketing and whoever is off on other forums and not giving priority to Paradox's own forum then they are in the wrong place.

Paradox game, Paradox forums.

Just a reminder, this is only a game. I think you may have forgotten that.

Further, they've been active all over, and nothing but forthcoming with information, within reasonable expectations. We should be thanking them for making an effort to be active through various mediums, not spurning them because you only want them to be in the one you feel is best.

Not saying there aren't some issues to be fixed, but it feels rather overblown to say there is a lack of 'official developer commitment,' not to mention implying that the game is broken. And your opinion of what the game 'should be doing in vanilla' is entirely valid, but is not a viable yardstick to measure CO against.

I don't mean to anger you, but that whole post feels a bit heavy-handed in light of the situation--A damn fine game with very few issues and active and committed devs & publishers.

As a suggestion, it would be nice to have regular updates from the devs, even if just, "we're still here". I realize that requires some time and effort, but once a week or every other week just to say something about what's being worked, maybe a picture or something, would be very nice.

The question I was asked by Totalymoo was where I was looking for information and my answer was in here. If the developers have been "nothing but forthcoming with information" everywhere but in here then of course I haven't seen any of it. I already explained that when I want information about a Paradox game I don't go "all over" the Net, I go to Paradox.

Furthermore, I never "implied the game was broken," I said it had core gameplay problems, which it plainly does. Given the hundreds upon hundreds of complaints in here alone, many of which are thoughtful and well argued, what I said about that should be utterly uncontroversial. There are core gameplay issues and fixing them is CO's responsibility.

PS: When you don't want to anger someone try to avoid being patronising and irrelevant in your opening sentence.

Keep in mind we lost a fair bit of posts with the moving of the forum, although I agree we've been bad at sorting things into the official announcements subforum.

Still, keep track of what everyone with a "co" tag is writing and you'll see a fair bit of information. There's been something new, either a patch or progress update, on a weekly basis since launch.

Things will not move much faster than that, please set your expectations accordingly :)

I disagree with Potoroo that there are core gameplay problems, but I agree that the Paradox forums should be the focus of developer activity and announcements. If there is an issue with the Paradox forum functionality than maybe CO should set up their own official forums, like Obsidian for Pillars of Eternity, but people who own the game should not be expected to follow Reddit, Steam, facebook, Simtropolis or a bunch of other forums to know what is going on. This has been a problem since the game was announced actually.

The team is small yes, but perhaps spreading themselves over many forums is not the answer. A case in point are the way patches have been handled since game release, which has not been optimal. Leaving aside the patch that was rushed out without adequate testing and then withdrawn, developer participation in the beta thread for 1.0.7c patch was inadequate and dried up after the first day, although the beta was live for 8 days prior to release of the patch (https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...now-available-read-before-downloading.847589/). Important announcements relative to beta patch compatibility were never placed in the thread header, creating unnessary confusion. None of the bugs directly related to the patch and reported by testers were fixed prior to the patch release (I.E. problem with LUTs, asset editor issues with elevated road segments etc). Patch notes were incomplete and never updated etc. With Steam pushing out the patches to 1m players, this really needs to be better handled and communication is a big part of that.

As for the future of the game, I guess it is up to CO/Paradox whether they want to share their plans with us or not. A certain amount of information has leaked out through interviews in various media and some of that info gets shared here. But given the success of the game, it wouldn't hurt to take a less casual, more professional approach to information sharing via dev diaries, official threads and even formalized bug reporting/tracking via the official forums.

I'm not asking for the Earth. I just couldn't understand why the Paradox forums seemed to be a developer-free zone. This is Paradox after all, they are regarded as one of the better game publishers precisely because they have a history of communicating with their customers. Paradoxplaza should be their default first point of contact, never the last.

Also, earlier in this thread the suggestion was made to use a site wherein users could prioritise bug fixes and feature development, thereby generating a roadmap of sorts. Given that the Suggestions forum is full with everything from the fundamental to the trivial CO should think seriously about that sort of approach.

For me I think in general the response to actual technical issues has been pretty good and CO have been responsive by putting out patches.

The reason I suggested an AMA is for a gameplay discussion.

There have been a lot of questions and discussions about Crime Rate, How building Occupation Works, When do people Die, How Service vehicles actually work, Plane, Boat and Train Pathing, Train Log jams, Workers needed messages and so on and so forth.

In those sort of threads there is little (or appears to be little) official input, it's mainly speculation by players based on what they've seen, but nobody from CO to confirm that the observed behavior is correct and how it should work or is wrong and will be looked at.

Clearing up these things would be nice.

I did do a search for each of the CO_ user names to check what has already been commented on and the result was pretty spartan. Maybe answers have been lost in the move to the new forums as well?

Yup, unfortunately a lot of stuff has been lost with the forum migration. CO have also been very busy with the technical side of things.

When it comes to balance questions I think the expectations should be that changes will be done gradually and relatively slowly, as many systems affect several parts of the game and have to be handled with great care.
