After seeing a few Utopia LPs on youtube, I noticed that many people don't know yet that Capital buildings do not yield food and production anymore, so they're still placing the colony base over tiles with either of those resources, and thus losing them entirely.
I think that a pop up reminding you that you'll be loosing those base resources, should be handy in this case.

If it's not much trouble, that is... :)

EDIT: Just to be clear, this pop up informing you that you're about to suppress resources already exists in game. It just doesn't trigger when placing a Colony Base.

True enough - it could probably do with a 1st time pop-up, especially for new players. I suspect "seasoned" players will figure it out within minutes, however.

Yeah, but I remember it took me a number of colonies when I first started playing to actually realize that the colony building *wasn't* destroying the local resources. I had been placing them on bare spots - which is apparently what you want to do now. I mean, I did figure it out during my first game, but it was confusing to me that they told you everywhere else whether you were destroying resources and not there.

Anyway, I think at least some sort of reminder until you disable it would be handy, especially for new players (or players who are more daunted by complexity).

Energy should be fine since capital building now produce energy. Anyway, the adjacency bonus is much more important on the long run than one or two base yields.

Having that pop up every time might get annoying because once you know, you know.
This pop up already exists in game, it just won't show for the initial colony placement for some reason.
Besides, it won't pop up every single time, unless you're placing the colony on top of these resources on purpose. ;)

With Global Food the Capitol was changed to Energy and Unity. Indeed global food was the one thing they needed to get the thing off producing food and thus be worked by slaves where applicable.

If people are placing it on Food/Mineral tiles, they are not thinking it through. The yield of the shelter is explicitly noted. It can be seen at every step of the Upgrade chain. It is normal Streaming Stupidity (incuded by the divided attention) that they miss it. And they would propably just click through any checks anyway.
We had to learn to use the Adjacency Bonuses and Food/Mineral yield of the original shelter effectively. We will learn to use the Energy yield of this shelter effectively. We do

That's not exactly a game problem though.
The problem lies with the LPer not paying enough attention.
No, in my eyes it's definitely a UI problem. We have pop-ups for regular buildings surpressing resources, so we should have them for capital buildings, too.

Logical Problem:
The Ship Shelter produces neither Minerals nor Unity. So you get a "Supress warning", even though the next upgrade and all the ones after do produce that 2nd resource.
It is less of a issues with unity, as presumably only buildings produce it (no tile yields).
