Hey everyone, not a poster here pretty much ever, but I had a thought for the Hive Minds.
As is generally well known, the Hive Minds are criminally simple in comparison to other empires. The Devouring Swarm is a good addition, but other than that, Hive Minds are plain experiences where nothing bloody happens
As many people have modeled their Hive Minds after colonies like bees or ants, it makes sense that a vanilla civic should be incorporated. To allow the Hive Mind to interact with the new and handy galactic market, a massive food producer (for example), could be an option. A beehive, if you will, supplying their honey for other empires. Of course, this alone is not enough to justify a whole civic, but this is a good start in my opinion.
Outside of the direct market benefits, having an almost stratified society in the Hive Mind with a Queen, Drones and Workers could also play a part in how the empire works, in how reproduction rates are affected for example.
Another could be that Hive Mind insects on Earth are known for having insane amounts of individuals as part of the colony, this theoretical civic could allow extra districts to allow the population growth.
It's actually surprising that I've only seen one mod to approximate this idea, and that was a long time ago, and certainly incompatible with the current iteration of Stellaris. With Le Guin's redo of planet systems, allowing hundreds of pops on one planet, this idea can really take off to the extreme with a stupendous amount of population for the Hive Mind.
I'd love to hear other people's opinions on this, and hopefully get this going for the devs!
