"The Swedish developer [Paradox] will be showing Europa Universalis 2... at the upcoming [ECTS 2001] show in London...The company will be demonstrating its turn-based strategy sequel Europa Universalis 2...the show begins next month."

I encourage all UK players to attend the show, and if possible, report what they see back to the forum. Plus, you'd probably get to meet some of the nice folks from Paradox.

No, the morons at gamespot never played the game.

They had another announcement about the new screenshots. This morning it said turn-based, this afternoon it says "real time."

I typically play the game as if it was turn based. I let time run for a while then pause it and do everything at once, repeat as necessary.

Actually gamespot's review was probably what prompted me to go buy the game in the first place.

I also thought that Gamespot's review was a good review. It certainly is what started my mad path toward becoming an EU Fanatic! =)

Some information might be useful - like, when is it, where is it, and come to that, WHAT is it. I never even heard of ECTS

As for the acronym ECTS, I assume that it is something like "European computer/ing trade show" or something. But I don't know for sure.
