I'm a Little bit disappointed, in the last WWW, where they came down the tech lines, it seems that a lot of techs (construction, industry, artillery....) end up very early 1942/1943.

So it seems that there's nothing really more to develop after this timeline :(

Yeah, they could expand a bit upon that, at least give everything a 1945 tech. However, every serious game with a major or medium country will largely be decided long before you have researched most techs. Certain techs were maxed, but they still had quite a lot left to research in 1945 in the WWW.

Anyway, mods will fix it.

Mods my friend, and/or future DLCs. I think they have a lot of ideas, possibly more than the EU4 and CK2 400 euros DLCs madness going on...

Edit: Bottomline, it has a lot of potential. Don't get worked up, they haven't even announced a release date, god knows what will happen. Besides what the company can do, just imagine what mods the community has planned. It's gonna be epic.

I agree, the potential of this game is epic.
A lot stuff they skipped due to better and stable playability and AI can be implemented step by step.

Saying that mods will fix it seems like such a cop out argument.

Although, I haven´t seen the tech tree too much, maybe Paradox feels all relevant tech is already done by 1942 and there is no need to develop more. What weapon systems do you feel are left out OP?

There are so many techs they didn't research, so plenty of techs IMO.

This.

hopefully, all these 1942-3 techs are a sign that techs in this game have been more front-loaded, compared to earlier HoI incarnations. That is, techs will become available earlier, but there will be so many to chose from, compared to available research slots, that automatically researching a tech in its base year is no longer the norm it often was in HoI3.

1945 techs are basically the start of the Cold War, an eventual Expansion/DLC/Mod would make sense
The war lasted until 1945, and 1945 techs can be researched from '44, if it's like in HOI3. So definitely within the timeline.

i just hope in regards to techs that you can research them fast enough to build a balanced army/navy/airforce as a typical 5 research slot (after relevant national focus) major nation. the devs have spoken about how its important to build for example a balanced navy rather than specialising in the HOI3 of "CLs + CVs" or "BBs + DDs", but if its too hard to research multiple lines it will end up in that kind of specialisation anyway

But on the other hand, you can rush some techs/doctrines to the end by 1939 or so......

This may or may not be cause for concern. It may not even be possible, depending on how penalizing ahead-of-time penalties are. But, assuming it is possible, it will still depend on how much of an improvement these incremental upgrades make, and how viable a hyper-specialized military will be. Whichever way it goes, I can't imagine it will be any worse than HoI3, wherein any optimized nation's navy only needed 2 ship types: 1 escort and 1 capital, and the rest were superfluous.

However, considering historical accuracy, I'm having a hard time thinking of weapons/ techs that were 3-4 years ahead of time in HoI terms. mg34, maybe? (Granted, Paradox has the benefit of "adjusting" history to match their proposed tech dates, so that weapons that came out around same year will be considered equivalent, even if one was vastly superior than the other.)

Keep in mind that the equipment system basically makes it so you can have your new tank hit the front-lines a few days after the tech is researched and put into production. In older versions you had to wait until you could build a new unit or upgrade a full unit.

But on the other hand, you can rush some techs/doctrines to the end by 1939 or so......

i just hope in regards to techs that you can research them fast enough to build a balanced army/navy/airforce as a typical 5 research slot (after relevant national focus) major nation. the devs have spoken about how its important to build for example a balanced navy rather than specialising in the HOI3 of "CLs + CVs" or "BBs + DDs", but if its too hard to research multiple lines it will end up in that kind of specialisation anyway

So it appears some people are worried research is too fast and some it's too slow. :D

Maybe some techs go very fast (they have no time cap like doctrines) and some techs are slow.....?:p

At that point most games should be decided already.
This. The war could have gone shorter or longer, but most of the tech that got made in 1944-1945 were never used in WW2.
UK were just able to make their Comet tank to make one division that reached Europe before the war ended. Researched in 1943.

They were in HoI3 and HoI2, but at least in SP this was due in no small part to the weakness of the AI. Given the game spans 1936-48, there's some value in having a tech tree that can cover those periods.

That said, I think the issue with the doctrines (which I think were the main offender) was having no date cut-offs, so everyone power-rushed their doctrines, which is (and if there's no date 'gates', should be) a 'no brainer' choice, as they're very important techs, and if there's nothing stopping you getting them early, then that should be the thing to do. I wouldn't be entirely surprised if this changed by the time the game launched.

When it comes to equipment and industry, there seemed to be techs for most lines out into 1944 or 1945, and for planes and tanks, even further.
