So, I started a game using the 769 start, and I think it's progressed really well! I'm going to show you how it's evolved, and tell you a bit of history.
Let's start off with Britain, as you can see, most of it is under Scottish rule.
The Scots have ruled the areas outside of their homeland for around 80 years, and they seem pretty stable. I'm hoping that they'll form Albany before I port this to EU4.
Here is Hispania, Asturias fell relatively quickly to the Umayyads. They formed the Empire and began to press into Aquitaine. This triggered Crusades, and they were pushed out. The realm then experienced many civil wars, and eventually the Umayyads lost the title. During this period, Aquitaine secured Barcelona.
The new Emperors pushed down toward into modern Morocco.
This is Africa. As you can see, it's got pretty clean borders. The Arabian Empire has captured a fair bit of it, and Mali is formed, but not much is notable.
Here's Qawurdid Africa. They've captured Nubia, and have held it for some 80 years. However, you can see they lost chunks of Arabia, including the Holy City of Mecca....
The Arabs have lost a lot of land, actually! The Persian terrors left the Empire very soon into the game, before 20 years. The Uqaylids originated as the Sultans of Armenia, but they pushed into Alaina and captured Mesopotamia. But then they lost Armenia, so their nation looks ugly. As you can see, many of the Indian states are pushing past the Indus, something I haven't seen often.
While we're on the topic of the Arabs, there is something else notable. The Arabian Empire lost the Caliphate. The Caliphate is now controlled by the petty Arabian Banu Kalb Sultanate. The Caliph hasn't seemed to like to use Jihads. He's only called one... for Mongolia.
India looks kinda pretty.
The Byzantines have been really stable this run! They've captured Sicily, most of the Balkans, Crimea, Armenia, and have liberated Antioch. They even captured Rome and held it for 50 years! They're really stable, and I hope they stay around until EU4.
A look at Southern Europe.
Western Europe. The borders are actually decent. You can see a few areas controlled by the Moors, but they're doing a good defense. However, this area is pretty weakened. Aquitaine, France, and Midlands are all in a huge three way war, and their levies are somewhat depleted.
The Dutch are doing well, they've even captured and held a region of England for a few centuries. But, they're in a civil war currently.
Let's swing back up North to the Twin Sultanates. The Fakhourids and Bajanids. After Persia exploded, one of the Northern Emirs decided to go up North, rather than fight his rivals to the South. Khiva was weak, and fell quickly. After securing Khiva, he captured most of Turkestan, and created the Dual Kingdoms. He expanded very quickly and destroyed the Petty Sumosenko and Tengri lords. He established a very large Siberian kingdom. Several generations later, the kingdoms split. Turkestan is way up north for some reason though.
Here are the triple glorious Romuva nations! Romuva was the first one to be created. It's founder was the Petty High Chief of Curonia, named Roman. (Ruler Designer.) He conquered the other Romuva rulers, formed a custom kingdom, and died. His son reformed the Romuva faith. Two or three generations later, a Great Holy War for Germany was called. It was held by Bavaria, which was in a weakened state due border problems with the French. Bavaria was defeated. The Romuvan king renamed the kingdom "Germuva" and gave it to his relative. A few Generations later, the Custom Empire of Romuva was formed, and there was a Crusade for Rus. Run was weak and was defeated. The Emperor gave his relative Rus and renamed it Rusuva. Next, there was a GHW for Denmark, which held Denmark and Norway. It fell easily to the combined strength of the Romuva Kingdoms. Danmuva was granted independence and stayed so for 20 years. Next, Sweden was captured via GHW, and it was given to the Germans. Later, Danmuva was inherited by the German king, and that blob was created.
Let's talk about Poor little Bavaria. Bavaria once controlled Germany and Bavaria, but it lost Germany. Years later, they were building a power base in Croatia, but Germuva decided that Bavaria looked nice. Several Holy Wars, with Romuva's aid, later, 'Bavaria' only controls Croatia.
Here's Europe overall! I think it looks kinda pretty, especially with how much it's been through.
Additional Notes: Midlands is Iconoclast. Byzantines are Iconoclast. Italy formed like 15 years ago, took long enough! Ruthenia used to be super powerful, but now they're constant in a civil war/getting invaded. it's the poorest region in the world. Do you think this would be a good EU4 game?
