I'm planning on doing a release AAR, and I'd like to ask a query of you, gentlefolk of the CK2 forum.


Specifically, I'd like to get name and flag suggestions for this, my eventual goal:



What I have there is mostly 30 minutes of screwing around, and my first bit of Paradox game modding. I'm not super well versed in Irish history or culture, but I've always found the concept of a minor nation becoming a world power fascinating. Anyone more familiar want to help me out?

I don't know what the eventual name would be, but wikipedia suggests one translation for "British Isles" as "Oileáin Iarthair Eorpa". However, the way kingdoms work in CKII would have you still be one of Ireland, Scotland, Wales or England as your primary title with the others as secondary (unshown) titles. If you modded it in as an Empire, then it could work, but would have the issue that none of these kingdoms would be able to set their own crown laws.

Flag wise: The harp works well, possibly in a different colour to distinguish it from the kingdom of Ireland. Other than that I can't really think of any pan-British Isles icons that would really show the Irish heritage of the state.

Of course your AAR is your AAR, but wouldn't it be more likely that the Irish would be more or less like the Normans - conquer the Isles then rule them from England rather than the relative backwater of Ireland? It would be much more difficult to control the Isles from there than somewhere on the 'main' island (doesn't have to be London though).
