I find it odd when people don't assimilate at all. Had that happen in a few provinces recently.

Even worse is when you play as Greece and greek people are slowly becoming a minority in their own provinces..I defeated turks as Greece, picked back greek provinces and STILL greek pop was declining....muslim birth rates I guess :D

If you can come up with an objective test of speed which would measure this, I think devs will let us post such stats.

It hugely depends on that particular set of hardware too. It's faster for everyone, but not equally faster, because it depends what you have under the hood to start with.

Needs more perameters than that. Playing as who, building or not building, war or no war, what year etc.

Jesus, its not hard - I've seen such tests performed very often in the past. Just count it from 1836 choosing the same country. If its like a 0.1 second difference due to some country going to war it won't do much.

I'm mostly looking for someone with multiple cores to do it.

It's not that it's hard to do - I can't do it now anyway - but the point is performance differs depending on the factors I described above. War can make far more than a tiny difference to performance, especially if you have many units and mobolise them.

I'm mostly looking for someone with multiple cores to do it.

Problem with that is, my high-spec PC, which I built for academic large-scale population modelling doesn't have problems with speed in Vanilla, which is why PDM is such a system hog - I write it on a PC that can extrapolate bronze age migration patterns across 2,000 years based on archaeological finds, so V2 isn't a big stretch for it. If I run a speed test on a Cray XK6 supercomputer, then it's not going to tell us much; likewise, if I play it on a laptop with a dual-core 1.8GHz processor, it'll only indicate that my laptop sucks.

Of course, simply the fact that there's multicore support and an impressive number of code optimizations means that AHD will run faster than vanilla on ANY system. How much faster is too subjective to be worth timing, as factors as petty as how long it's been since you re-installed your OS or defragged your hard drive can have huge impacts on the speed of the game. What I can say is that my mother's (single core) 2.4GHz PC ran AHD noticibly faster than it ran vanilla V2, from the very beginning. She didn't quite understand what the hell the computer was doing, and demanded I get rid of it so she could Skype my neice, but it WAS faster.

It's not an assimilation issue. Just think about it: how turks can assimilate to greeks and vice verse?
Assimilation rate should be really small (through inter-cultural marriages, so few in Victorian era). So it's a good thing that it was decreased in AHD (as I heard).

The actual issue with balkan regions is that they should have really small, almost insignificant turkish population, as it was IRL.
The other issue is crazy pop migration within the country, when annexing back my core regions, I keep discovering that my greek brothers have migrated to Iraq...
Maybe migration "to the core provinces" would be a good idea.

Anyway, balkans are just so poorly implemented in V2 that I prefer to play some other countries just not to disappoint myself (despite my high sympathy to this region and its nations).

Here are my two Q's: if you manage to form Israel will there be a large jewish migration/immigration to Israel?

Is there a mormon culture or religion?

Why would there be a Mormon culture? To my knowledge, there are neither. Mormons are termed Protestant in game I think.

Actually, there were significant Turk minority populations pretty much all around the place until most got ethnically cleansed during and after the Balkan wars of liberation.

PDM adds Mormon-related stuff. Considering their importance in US political debates at the time I think the question would more be why not have them. In any case, the new version PDM will apparently will be ready relatively soon after the expansion is released, so I'm not too worried about it :p

Actually, there were significant Turk minority populations pretty much all around the place until most got ethnically cleansed during and after the Balkan wars of liberation.

Well, I've never saw any actual statistics on this, but as I remember from wiki article about population exchange of 1923, about half a million muslims were moved to Turkey (while most of them were ethnic greeks) and about 1.5 millions orthodox greeks were moved from Turkey to Greece.
It's hard to say about actual numbers of turks during XIX on balkans. But from what I know they were mostly concentrated around Thrace and East Macedonia.
I guess in north Serbia and Bulgaria there were very few of them.

Too bad there's no decision to simulate population exchange in Vic2.

In V2 having someone as a satellite was less useful than having them as an SoI, has this been changed at all?

As to the greek-turk population exchange, itd probably be easy to mod in, as the mormon thing/cherokee decision shows that decisions can move pops of a type to another province, so itd probably be easy to make an event or decision chain which ended with forced migration.

Do large numbers of jews move to Israel if it is created?

They already do in V2

Not whenever I play it they don't. Always end up getting released uncivilised and with 0% primary culture population right to the end.

Thatll be the unciv thing, if they get released as a civ [which im not sure why thats not happening for you] then they are the only country of their religion or primary culture so ought to get all the jewish immigrants if theyre a democracy and not rubbish with wars and instability and stuff. The only time i ever tested it it worked fine, but that was a few patches ago when they were the new thing. Maybe it depends on how you release it something

When are we going to be able to see the manual?

Also, how exactly does the rebel hunt button work? Does the army return to its original location or stay where it killed the last rebel army? Does the AI know not to walk across continents if there are already armies doing rebel hunting there?

Thats how it goes in EU3, the closest army goes to deal with the rebel, no others move, i dont think they try to cross unfriendly provinces or atleast ive never seen it happen.

However, related question, do they now while set to hunt rebels hunt any enemy who is besieging your province? be it rebel or rival? as then you wouldnt have to worry about little wars at all if you didnt want to win them just get to a white peace, and fighting huge wars with huge armies would be possible and fun instead of slow and repetitive as you wouldnt have to micromanage every little movement and defense and the war side of the game would be more fun.
