What did you imply by "they care about Bastar, and Malacca like they did with Mali"? Did any of both westernize?

Yeah it would take a lot of modding by hand, and you'd have to design the victory conditions to work within the context of the world. A pretty daunting task. Anyways, go Byzantium! I'm glad you're back at it magritte, it's good to come back to my favorite AAR.

Maybe see if there's a Darkest Hour converter, or if modding it for DH would be easier?

@AndreMassena, I don't think there's a working converter for HOI3.

@2757xx, Yes, they've both westernized.

King of Men is working on a V2--->HOI3 converter for our megacampaign, which also has a very different map than the real world, so maybe he can help you with that.

I believer there are also V2-->HOI2 converters.

@mathnut, it's Hull province in V2; I think it was Yorkshire in EU3.

As to HOI, I may look into it again when this is done. Who knows? Perhaps HOI4 will come with a Vicky 2 converter. Does anybody know if the Ck2->Eu4 converter has sold well? Sadly, we will not have an East vs West conversion. :( I was looking forward to that game.

Oh, and it's nice to see so many people back from the previous parts and enjoying the new one. I congratulate you all on your long attention spans!

NORTH AMERICA, 1841-1861

The way the 1840's began, the people of the New World might have expected it to be as bloody as the late 1830's had been. In 1841, Leinster declared war on Canada, the last remnant of the world's first modern democracy. It planned to recapture the colony it had started long ago, and also regain a safe land link to its possessions in Vermont. Canada was a small, progressive nation with a rail network that extended from New Bedford to Pittsfield, but its attempt to build an industrial base in fabric and cement had failed. Efficient transportation would not be enough to save it from Leinster's larger armies, its three thousand defenders. By the fall of 1842, it had succumbed, though the political ideas that had originated there lived on.

Despite this beginning, the 1840's and 1850's proved a peaceful time in North America, with only minor skirmishes associated with wars back in Europe. It was a great age of exploration, led by the Scandinavians and Danes whose exploits recalled those of the legendary Vikings centuries ago. The Scandinavian King commissioned a number of expeditions including Alvar Niende Hode Kuson's exploration of the Colorado Plateau and Great Basin, Aleksander Brannborn's travels through the Fraser valley and across the northern mountains, and most famously the Berommelsekrig and Kontorist expedition. The last began at the mouth of the Columbia river eastward to the mountains and the down the Missouri River to the borders of Etruria. Scandinavia was able to establish claim to almost the entire western half of the continent, though they found themselves in a race with Etruria to settle the great plains states.

Meanwhile the Danes explored the continents northern coast, hoping to find some undiscovered channel that would yield a usable passage from Europe to Asia. The much ballyhooed Fri expedition, however, ended in catastrophe without a single survivor in 1848, and a shocking claim by local natives that the Danes had turned to cannibalism in the end. Undaunted another expedition led by Robert Gustendrengson in 1853 set out, and though they nearly starved themselves, the Danes still staked a claim to the harsh lands north of the USA.

The other Europeans in the area largely focused on developing the lands they had claimed rather than exploring new lands. Etruria and Castille collaborated on a rail network linking Tampico in Etrurian Nuova Leon with El Paso in Castilian Texas and Naccevilla in Etrurian Tennessee. The USA and Haiti remained popular with immigrants, their populations more than doubling between 1844 and 1862.

The peace was broken in 1856 when Leinster and its ally Peru gambled that England was distracted by events in Europe and would not vigorously defend its territories in the Americas. Leinster hoped to acquire the province of New Hampshire to solidify its holdings in the area, while Peru hoped to expand southward into English South America.

The war proved a grave miscalculation on Leinster's part. Although the English were slow to bring their troops to the Americas, they easily captured Ulster where a third of Leinster's population lived and its lucrative clothing and furniture industries. And once the English troops arrived in the New World, they overwhelmed Leinster's forces, capturing Leinster New Mexico, Arizona and Sonora in 1859. When they landed an army of 20,000 in Central America in 1860, Leinster was doomed. In March of 1861, they gave up their last holdings in their Irish homeland to the hated English.

USA and Haiti are going to end up with a higher population density than China at this rate... Poor Leinster, I was rooting for them. And somebody really ought to mod in a "Clean borders" CB.

Mixed feelings in that update. Poor Leinster, but go USA and Scandinavia!
