Actually, I am not sure. But I doubt it as at this time Brandenburg, Sweden and Denmark competed for the German Baltic Coast. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if some of the 'Hanse Laws' worked their way into local/national laws.

I checked a bit on the demise on the Hanse, though. In the late mid ages, local aristocracy forced the cities in their territories to leave the Hanse. Therefore, on the last Hansetag in 1669 only 6 cities were left (in its prime, the Hanse had 160 members). The Petershof in Novgorod got closed in 1494, the Stalhof in London in 1598, causing an end to the Hanse's privileges in those cities.

In Germany, there exist a few games about the Hanse. The goal is usually the same: rise from a small time trader to 'Patrician' (hence the name 'Der Patrizier' for the game) ...

I got the game Patrician several years ago. (Hansa? what is it? Baltic Sea is too far from my home and then , it is very exotic to me)
I understood how deal the Hansa, why the boycotts, who was Waldemar, where to find better goods, how were the relationships between cities, how to improve in the society,... This is a didactic game for me: I enjoyed myself and I learned a lot.

And this is EU for me, too.

I currently play Patrician II, and it has added to the gameplay by part one in that you can build workshops where you produce trading goods, have to care about your image with different groups in the cities, have Pirates!-style real time sea battles...but it seems that's all that's new. :( Don't know if it'S (supposed to be) released in English, too, though.

Well, www.ascaron.com takes you to the (bi-lingual) site. The game was published by Infogrames. I hope it's released in English, too, because it looks and plays better (read: less buggy) than its predecessor.

Thank you very much for the info.
I have just seen the home page. It looks like 1602 AD, more improved, sure, than the Patrizier 1, but in the same way. I like it.
And it was released in Nov 2000, as EU did¡
But I think that the English version of Pat2 will be sooner than EU one ¡¡¡: ;)
