What do you set your Vassals to? Aggressive or decide for themselves?
Agressive. They siege you kill stacks.

yes, you always get the AE costs, and furthermore vassal reconquest does not give AE discount as far as I can tell. However, since people can't join coalition when they are in truce with you, that is not a problem once you are strong enough.
As far as DIP costs:
-Vassal reconquest CB make ceding vassal cores free (but not other provinces)
-Your (not vassal) conquest CB makes all claimed province transfers free (whether you take them yourself or give to vassals)
I haven't used other CBs, but I imagine your deus vult would allow you to transfer all occupations for free. However, if your goal is to finish as quickly as possible, then there are better idea groups (in my opinion). Later on you can pick up imperialism which is also free dip on all provinces.
Based on my playthrough, I agree on these points. I haven't played on after that though.I would put this forward as a 'good run guide':
Dont rush burgandy, the risk of going after burgandy first is that it takes a few years and can be bad for manpower. Jump on bavaria, dont gives hre princes provinces higher than BT 6/7. Giving provinces to vassals eg silesia seems to mitigate a lot of the AE and fewer coalitions form. If a coalition forms unally and jump on the target for free provinces to revoke. Dont bother with marriages, they lock you into an alliance and alliances should be fluid.

Got it revoked in 1463 and PU with Hungary. Now I start trying for WC. Realize I will never have enough diplo points even feeding my vassels to annex every province before the end of time unless I use some more cheap tricks. Jesus I am really hating this game now that it forces you to use so much cheese to WC. It's jsut not fun to play anymore. paradox you need to make other things to do besides war and make diplomacy and territory more dynamic.
Whoever this guy was, someone give him a pack of cookies, one just isn't enough.
Protectorate the guys you will never get border with then early on. You protectorate the rest only when you are ready to win. If you are lucky you protectorate might even expand buy the time.To prevent Westernization in the Americas, it's enough to kill the colonizers before they colonize a single American province, since you can then protectorate all the natives and they won't border any Western country. But for Asia and Africa, I guess you can feed Oirat colonies to block the North, and use trade companies in Persia/India as well as Africa to block the rest?

I have annexed, landlocked, or vassalized all the European colonizers (except for Norway, but that should be done soon). Should I try to annex all my vassals that will colonize, since they may cause countries in the Americas/Africa/Asia to westernize?
