What this guy came up with is very clever. In a strategy game, using a clever strategy to get ahead seems highly appropriate to me.

It's actually false.

To grant them electorate status in a war they need to be above 0 relations (or very, very close to 0) OR be at threatened status. Since typically you only have threatened status with your closest neighbors, you need to improve relations with more distant targets first.

That's only one leg out of two.
The one you get most IA from is 4.Countries accept Demand Unlawful territory if they are not coring that province.
This is not new, but the fact that you can swap ownership of sieges mid war means you can easily give provinces to who you want. Combine that with no cool-down on demanding - other than waiting for the diplomat to return - and you can rack in a lot of IA this way.
On top of that, the 2. mentioned above doesn't always work. You need to have high relations or high diplomatic reputation to be able to do it in most cases.
In my playthrough I got 90% of my points from demanding and 10% from granting electorates.

Be ready to sink about ~3 hours worth of attempts in. You need a lot of puzzle pieces to fit correctly, and in three hours that only happened to me once. And that one time... my Ironman somehow got disabled -.-'

Though I'm also Bad Luck Brian so maybe it'll work out better for you.

Patience is really the most important thing. I used 3½ hours total to form the HRE and used just one try for that.
The videos should all be up by the weekend though if you wanna peek :)

Wiz stated minutes ago that he is working on the unwanted-territory-in-war issue, which would effectively stop this from happening unless you can find another way to give&revoke territory.

Taking away elector-during-war wouldn't really solve this, nor solve anything.

One key- get LOTS of HRE allies to feed, to spread around the AE. Also, take your time- let the AE simmer down, and expand. And watch your manpower.
Agree. I used 5 allies in total.
Only 1 coalition war fired which I didn't join in.
Manpower is precious, but I used it a lot more than was needed. You can let your allies do the besieging if you want to wait a bit extra.
Also gifting your heavily indebted allies is sometimes necessary.
No need to take money in the wars though as that will lengthen the truces.

Using mechanics as designed within game parameters is no exploit. The rules are clear and that someone can accomplish something unexpected with them does not make said unexpected outcome an exploit.

Using mechanics as designed within game parameters is no exploit. The rules are clear and that someone can accomplish something unexpected with them does not make said unexpected outcome an exploit.

But I think the devs will still try to address it in the next patch.

Most likely. The entire HRE as vassals before 1500 is kind of strong.
It's super strong. Bye bye France in mid 16th century. No religious leagues. No Russia in Siberia.
And with the new unrest system it might even be fun to do a WC ;-)

Rush revoke + protectorate spam has always been the easy ticket for WC. If you can revoke before 1500, you can pretty much chain your vassal swarm into France/Castile/England/Portugal with impunity (there's nobody left in the Christian world that can survive it). All of that 100s of tax added in the world won't mean much when you can one-shot it into protectorate status.

Alright. I've never attempted that before. Sounds very powerful though.
