Bit of a shame we've had to go down the path of mockery, because I haven't seen a good reason why you wouldn't go down the path of accuracy re South Carolina (it's more understable re the dwarf states). I normally favour playability but I don't see it would be enhanced in this case. It's silly to yammer on about it, but it's also silly to insist on this design choice if it doesn't make it a better game.
Saying players can mod it themselves is an awful cop out. The question is whether it's a bad design choice and modability isn't an excuse for a bad design choice. I don't buy games so I can then spend hours correcting mistakes (or at least what I feel them to be).
