The map is stunning.

EDIT: Oh, and could there be a thread about where we mention the wrong (country, not province) borders, and provide sources? It'd make it easy for our paradoxian developers and we get the borders we want. :)

The map is actully the CLIO map so people have had ample opportunity to complain.

On release, HOI3 was pretty unstable and had a lot of bugs. That said, it's perfectly playable now (1.3,) although it's obviously got it's problems (which should hopefully become very rare by 1.4 and dead by the first expansion.)

I've heard that Paradox has hired a external testing firm so the same doesn't happen to Victoria 2 (according to the forums :p.)

We are going to give external testing a try to see how it works for us.

Ok Balkanites you are disapointing Paradox very badly here. We have much American rage over provinces yet no matter what we do we can't get a good Balkan discussion going here? Ffs I even mention the population of Transylvania in the Christmas Day Developer Diary and can't get a peep out of you guys. What are we doing wrong here?

As a Balkanite, I tell you this King: border discussion with a Balkanite are usually pointless...

Yeah, we know.. We're just used to seeing so many flamewars or posts about it that its suprising when it doesn't happen.

Or it might just be that Victoria players and fans are more mature than those of some other games we've made.

Interesting if so as Victoria contains information that would really be a lot more flammable one would think (like the exact ethnic, ideological, religious and cultural make of the population of a province). Especially considering how much of a fight people can have over the binary culture system of eu3...

Has there been any word yet on the vicky map & number of provinces? ie- are tthey taking the clio map pretty much verbatim or are they-ala HOI3-expanding the possible amount of provinces? I cant recall any info on this at the moment.

Also out of curiosity, where do you (and perhaps Paradox, if you have their ear) stand on an idea I mentioned previously- that IMHO it is ok to have provinces/areas of the map with little/no POP or infrastructure. Take these areas for what they are (using the Texas example)-a barrier to invasion and/or development. Id much prefer to see Texas have a few regions of empty inhospitable terrain rather than have these areas merged into say, Austin or whatever. For places like the extreme north of Canada or Russia its ok to have large provinces-these places are not invasion routes. But in some places-like the Texas example-armies did march through these places-they are travelled routes, it would be nice to not have these uber provinces all over the place.

The map code underlying Victoria 2 is the same as HoI3s (as per the developer diary on the map) so you can have at least as many provinces as HoI3 should you so desire.
