I guess that many here want to see released Victoria 3, and fear that it will be dumbed down as HOI4 (myself included). However there is something that I don´t fully like about Victoria 2.

V2 is a historical game, and even though it is not railroaded, it still achieves higher leves of historical outcome than other paradox games and thats something I really appreciate... But I have a few issues with it. One thing I really like about other grand strategic games is that you can pick any country and turn it into a superpower that everyone will fear. This is not really possible in Victoria 2 (at least for me). When I played a Greece-Byzantium I felt that what I had achieved was great yet the game didn´t see it that way. My accepet pops where very few and for this reason I spent the whole game struggling to maintain my Great Power status, with Scandinavia being always only a few points behind me.

I felt like they game did not reward me accordingly to what I had done and that I did not enjoy. There are few alt-history options in the game and the game will always have more or less the sma eresult. One can easily gess from the beginning who the GP at the end are going to be and that is somewhat boring from my perspective.

For this reason I would like to see some system in V3 (if it ever comes) for underdog nations to be able to significantly increase their power/population/accepted cultures (Example: Italy gaining spanish as accepted, Spain gaining portuguese, low countries gaining belgium, etc.)

I just wanted to ask the community how they feel about this and to have some imput on my thoughts.

I think it sounds like a really cool idea. And I agree that perhaps it should be made a bit easier for small countires to rise to compete with initially bigger ones.

I have two questions:

- Do you actually know how you can achieve or rather improve cultural assimilation and thus how it works ?
- Do you actually know how to become a great power and which factors influence it and why you might struggle more than Scandinavia in your game ?

Apart from that i could imagine an option similar to game rules in CK2 at at start to say something like:
- "Increased assimilation for player nation" or for "into ruling culture/religion" or somesuch.

Aside, there is a thread that already includes a lot of suggestions and discussion around a potential Vic III :

Yes, but I have to admit that it was a long time Ago. Still Scandinavia had the largest colonial Empire and always sided against me in any conflict with their larger african army.
- Do you actually know how to become a great power and which factors influence it and why you might struggle more than Scandinavia in your game ?
Yes, of course. What I meant is that I feel that the boundaries within a country can grow its power are more limited to what I would like. This has to do with the few alt-history options that the game provides. If one plays as Mexico, keeps its territoriesand becomes a GP, maybe he could influence and annex Central America in the same sense of the German unification and accept central american culture, as in an Alt-history reward to the player (or AI). Not to make things easier, to give a better reward. If the economy is booming, population growth should be higher, etc.

I felt like this wasn´t really a suggestion, I only wanted to see the opinion of the community on the topic.

For me, Victoria 3 should be a combination of Victoria and Victoria 2.

From Victoria:
- strong rebels (expecialy national)
- historical events (in Vic2 there was lack of it)
- recruitment
- selling provinces option
- just province sistem, not region and province
- music

From Victoria 2:
- diplomacy options (this one should be even more expanded!)
- colonization
- type of soldiers
- graphics
- changing names after revolution

However, I think third part should have more than both of it:
- cultures and countries (separation of English, Welsh, Lowland Scottish, Highland Scottish, Northumbrian from British culture; French, Breton, Occitan, Norman, Alsac, Corsican from French culture; additional Central Italian and Sardinian cultures; Galician, Andalucian, Aragonese cultures from Spanish culture; additional Sorbian, Kashubian, Silesian, Polesian, Scanian, Ruthenian, Szekleys, Crimean Tatar, whole Ugrofinnic and Turkic cultures in Russia and so on; of course these cultures needs their own countries )
- more diplomacy options, Vic2 was great but third Victoria could be even better
- option to support and cooperate with rebels (for example - support by United Kingdom Polish rebel factions in Russia; fight Bulgarian rebels and Russian soldiers against Ottoman army; support by France revolutionaries in Germany ect.)
- option to rebels could fight each other (anarchists against communist; jacobins with reactionaries ect)
- more native countries in Africa (like Dahomey, Ruanda, Buganda, Burundi, Dar Fur, Wadai, Bornu, Congo, Luba, Lunda, Shilluk, Taqali, Jolof, Cayor, Futa Jallon, Oyo, Ashanti, Mthwakazi, Rozwi and so on; also more easy ways to declare war on them than in Vic2)
- less boost for USA
- and maybe, that is not necessary but could be interesting... option to create your own subject from any province you want, giving him name, culture, religion (of course your religion (but maybe not?...)), capital, provinces, government ect. There could be problem with flag, but there could be a list of avaible flags or something. However this option is just concept.

May be only for non-AI countries.

Why you dislike regions?

Also, would be great to see some "patriotic" rebels who will rise specifically against occupants. And all kind of diplomatic actions with rebels (own and foreign)
