I have a few questions:
1. Will the 'teathing' troubles be properly represented? For example using an avrege amount of exp will you get the panther or t-34 up to a resomable reliability. While the King Tiger takes less time.
2. Will mobility of the King Tiger be properly repesented? (The crews loved its mobility it was average speed for a heavy tank sometimes as fast as allied mediums) Or the mobility of the Tiger 1 tank? (lower psi on tracks so soft ground didnt affect it as mucn)
3. Will when you reserch a variant and say put a division of only that varint show up as the 3d image or the original variant? (Yes I know you can make your own moddles but I was just wondering)

1. Why would King Tiger get lesser requirement for rising the reliability to a decent level? I think it would be the other way around.
2. Individual types of tanks would not be represented in any way. The basic stats for Tier 1 heavy tank are the same for everyone. Your construction and research teams and the variant system provides you with the ability to customize your tanks and name them what ever you want.
3. I doubt that even every tier would be represented, let alone a variant. It would mean that there should be hundreds of sprites for a single tier of a single unit. Or thousands of models just to cover one nation's tanks. Ain't gonna happen, and you can take that to the bank. :)

1 - I'm pretty sure that the unmodified versions of all tanks in the game have an average reliability, be they 1934 light tanks or 1943 heavy tanks. You could use your land experience to make a King Tiger variant that is more reliable than the enemy's T-34s, but no tank model in the game has an inherent reliability advantage over the other. The model names and pictures are really just for flavour and authenticity, they have no effect on unit stats.

2 - Unmodified heavy tanks will all have thick armour, big guns but bad mobility. Like with the first answer, you could still use land experience to make a heavy tank variant that has decent mobility, but as per your example, an unmodified Tiger I will not have greater mobility than another nation's 1941 model heavy tank (e.g. Britain's Churchill).

3 - I don't quite understand what you're asking here, but I'm pretty sure that there won't be a custom model for every single variant of a tank that you make. There might be a model for every baseline tank in the game, but the model likely won't change if make a variant. As the poster above said, that would require far too much work.

Look at this this guy says it better than I ever could:
http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showt...German-Tiger-II-Tank-(Warning-Pic-Heavy-Post)
To add to the previos link:
Tiger 1 speed 45.4 km/h (28.2 mph)
I also read that the Tiger 1 had a lower psi on the tracks than the M-4 Sherman now I cant find that website again but it makes sense I mean wider tracks higher area better weight distrobution.
Now I am only saying this beacuse I saw this information and now I think that certain tanks should have better mobility to begin with but befor that information i thought the Tigers were extremely slow.

I'm not talking about real life, I'm talking about the game. In Hearts of Iron IV a Tiger I is just a 1941 heavy tank, with no advantages over another nation's 1941 heavy tank. The fact that it is called a Tiger I and is shown as such is just for flavour. If tank models were given their supposed historical capabilities it would make balancing a nightmare.

If they dont then I got to get some good modders on it. Or take the time that could be spent playing HOI IV learning how to mod.

Really? You are gonna spend time modding in different psi and track width in a grand strategy game? Well, good luck.

But the things you are asking are already in the game. First you research a base variant. Then you choose the manufacturer (Krupp will give better armor, Porsche better reliability and so on ). Then you make variants (you have 4 levels of 4 variables making it 256 variants of a single base unit). And that is not enough for you to represent performance you want?!

You sir either have way too much spare time or seek another type of game (realistic tank simulator), grand strategy is not something I would recommend. :)

i dont quiet understand what a grand strategy game is and what differentiates it from an realtime strategy game like Wargame: Red Dragon for example. Grand Strategy games dont go into detail. A 1936 tank for germany is the same tank as a russian or american 1936 tank at its base. Only when you take design companies, which are country specific (for the 7 majors) and the variant system and several advisors and doctrines that affect the vehicle you end up with a unique tank.

Gameplay always comes first. Units dont move at their reallife speeds for example and units are affected by different terrain in the same way. There is no simulation of under motorization or problems with ammo racks that tend to catch on fire for example. The game is balanced. You can be ensured that there will be mods that change that and try to get as close to reality as they can, within the games boundaries of course, but the question is if that still will be fun, which is something we have to see.

That said, modding in paradox games isnt rocket science and most of the stuff can actually be done with a simple text editor like notepad and is very easy to understand and atleast in HoI III paradox actually included some templates, examples and notes basicly everywhere so it was easy to understand even without much prior experience.
