Some events in EU2 mp aren't really working as they should in multiplayer.

Therefore, I would like to present a few ideas here and hopefully discuss it. I got to think about this because of Fredrik and Wonko, players in my new sunday game, coming up with it.

Brandenburg becoming Prussia

In many games the fact that Brandenburg needs one trigger province to become Prussia leads to frustration by players, because any sane Poland wants to prevent Brandenburg from forming as Prussia and thus will try to keep Prussia. Of course, this will lead to bitter wars between Brandenburg and Poland over and over again.

Proposal: The GM declares Brandenburg will always become Prussia and sleep the event.

----------

Spanish bankruptcy event

As it is now, only Spain will suffer from bankruptcies from the gold provinces and thus has to decide if they want to sell the gold mines to other powers or take the bankruptcies or give a few trigger provinces to Portugal. This totally defeats the purpose of the event.

Proposa: The GM declares any country having more than 4 gold mines for a certain amount of time (say 40 years) in the America's will get a bankruptcy, no matter what.

----------

Also, the Danish 'Count's Feud' event and the Polish 'Hohenzollern Prussia become Polish Duchy' events should be slept. But I guess everyone agrees with that.

---------

Ideas/opinions?

My suggestion for the Golden Bankruptcy Rule would be to not make it totaly deterministic but rather to role after each session, giving countries with more than 4 goldprovinces a high probability of going bankrupt.

i won't enforce any event tbh

but i do think they should fix the devestating fire random event
4inflation or loose manu is a stuppid event and should be deleted or reduced to 1inflation max

about the bancrupty event
change the trigger so it can trigger for a longer period of time( from 1580 till 1700 for example )
and instead of the current trigger just make it so he can't control anything of mexico Or incas for that entire period

that should hurt enough to make the choise harder

How about giving all the usual suspects such a bancruptcy event? Should make it somewhat harder for spain to sell these provinces. ;)
I agree with the devastating fire, option B as it stands now could be dropped altogether. Make it +1 inflation and -1 stab or something like that.

But why should other countries be able to buy/conquer those mines from Spain and not experience the same economic consequences?

The bankruptcy events make no sense for MP in my estimation. I'd prefer to just see them slept.

The Bankrupcy events do make a lot of sense, even for MP. Otherwise a well played spain is unstoppable.

My suggestion is making the events a random trigger, for every gold mine you have, so when you have more mines, you get a larger chance on getting the event.

Its not perfect but its something.

But do you agree that a Spain without the bankruptcies and with the gold is much stronger than any other nation in the game after 1630?
It depends.
How strong is France?
England?
How many navals are played?
Which scenario/map?
Is Austria played by a responsible person?
Does OE have ambitions in the west?
etc. etc. etc...
