1. Add the "ancestor worship" mechanic that's coming to totemism. This exact thing was popular throughout pretty much all African states.
2. Add the syncretism mechanic from Tengri. It would make sense to make countries that are currently Muslim be syncretic Fetishists instead (though the Fulani Jihads would establish proper Islamic states), and the same thing when Kongo converts to Catholicism.
3. Add some sort of annual ceremony, either as an event or a decision or a button in the religion tab, to basically sacrifice some of your income and receive some MP in return. The more cores you have, the more powerful it is. This was found in Asante, Dahomey, Benin, Nri, Madagascar... etc. This shouldn't be available to syncretic states.
4. Honestly... get rid of the cults. They're not accurate, and they're not really a fun mechanic either. Yes, they're accurate in the sense that all of those gods exist, but almost all of them are tied to specific ethnic groups and 99% of the time are actually immersion breaking, and almost none of them were actually very relevant in state religion. Nor is choosing a deity really how African state religions worked. Instead of cults, it would be nice to have events for specific tags/cultures.
