A few ideas (not sure if they belong in the suggestion thread so I start here)

Hello everyone !

As you might see from my account, I barely posted on the paradox forums. But, with the upcoming Utopia release, and since I have a hunch it might get me back into gaming, specifically stellaris, I wanted to share a few ideas. I'll freely admit I have barely 25 plus hours in stellaris due to lack of available time to play. But still, the banks and utopia release might very well get me back into the game full force

Most of them relate to Federation which spills a little bit into multiplayer.

Speaking of Multiplayer, I'll start there since these are simple suggestions (at least in my mind) and they will have impacts on federation suggestion later (yes even in single player).

So let's start:

1. I'll lobby for an 'observer' mode in MP. Wiz, Cknoor and other famous streamer have said that it is difficult to play and stream at the same time. So, why not include an 'observer' mode into the game. The only thing it would do is allow people to check what is happening in a given empire, or the whole galaxy a whole. So the player could focus on the game, and other people would act as commentators, with possible pauses in the game to interview the player.

2. Coop mode in multiplayer: This would allow several players or AI to cooperate into managing a single empire. So, one player could focus on exploration and expansion, another one one building, another on war etc .... Basically, this could allow a team of less experienced players to try to have a go with more experienced ones. And this leads into:

Federation suggestions:

Right now, we have a revolving president to manage a federation and this can causes problems for players because there is little recourse apart from waiting to take your turn as 'president' before nudging the federation in the way you want to.

So how could these problems be solved? I have a few ideas.

1. Make an election for the presidency. Instead of revolving the role, have it be elected by members. How should this be done? Well, there are a few ways based on real world. For example, one empire one vote. Or based on population etc .... Of course, in a one empire one vote, the big ones might not be too happy to have to defer to their 'lesser' brethren. And on a population based one, the opposite. The point is, it could create interesting internal friction inside the federation so that even in peace time, there are decisions to be made.

2. Allow gradual votes on federation wide policies. The president would call for the vote on things like: How much should each empire contribute to the federation fleet in term of fleet cap and maintenance (this might not be the same for everyone). A federation tax on resources and those resources would be spent to help the federation as a whole or for emergencies (like food stocked to help starving empire even those outside the federation).

3. Most of all, a COOP federation. What do I mean by that? Well, it ties in into the COOP mode multiplayer suggestion above. Basically, allow the creation of 'roles' beside the president: The most important one being the grand 'Admiral' or 'General'. At first, that player could control the federation fleet and either, later on, the federation votes on a bigger budget on the federation fleet, eventually leading, to full control of all forces to the 'grand admiral'. Other roles might be created, like the one to deal with exploration, expansion or building special project for the federation (pooling Ressources for a megastructure for example). The president could appoint or revoke those. Or the federation might have voted on how those roles are appointed.

There are of course a few problems with these suggestions (like the 'grand admiral' simply allowing the creation of a mega fleet fully in control of one player). However, this might be counterbalanced with the internal friction this could cause in the federation, which might lead to very interesting and fun situation to play in the game.

Again, I am sorry if these might sound 'newbie' suggestion, I do not have much experience in the game. AndEnglishh is not my first language.

If just wanted to gauge the interest and merit of these ideas and perhaps talk more about them before cluttering the suggestion forums with useless stuff.

Thoughts anyone ?

PS: Sorry about wall of text

Hmm, I think the idea of being able to coop earlier in the game is a great idea. Maybe some kind of Federation generator? Hmm.

The question would be how to allow it to happen without opening up exploits (like in multiplayer grabbing someone else's empire at join) or making it hard to share resources.

Right now when you start co-op you have to find each other on the map and you might end up with alot of space between you.
