I just had a few ideas of how war could maybe be touched up in the game, maybe my ideas are good, maybe they're bad... I'd like to know what other people think.

1) It would be nice to have the ability to persuade non-allies to fight with you in a war. I figure there are several diffrent ways that this could be done:
First - Good relations. Let's say I am Sweden and have +200 relations with Poland, although Poland does not have an alliance with me. Now, I want to go to war with Russia and would like Poland's help, we are "Dear Friends", after all. Perhaps there could be some way for the diplomats to persuade friends into helping you either by declaring war or by providing some money or extra troops.
Second - Striking deals. Once again let's say I am Sweden and I want Poland to help me fight Russia. Perhaps I would be able to grease their palms to persuade them into fighting. Either by offering them money, one of my provinces, or exclusive trade agreements. Also, maybe there should be a way to promise certain spoils of war in order to persuade allies. For example, lets say Poland will only join the war if I promise to give them the province of Moscow once it is captured... in which case it would destroy our relations if I did not.

2) Another idea was to change the way a fallen nation is hanled. I doubt if Austria and Hungary had allied to pick apart Bohemia in real life that Austria would get the whole mass of land because she has higher ranking generals. Perhaps when a nation is completely defeated and annexed there could be some sort of "meeting" of the allied nations to divide the land and money.

3) Allies that pull out of wars should be kicked from the alliance and give you a temporary CB against that nation. How many times have you allied with a nation for a huge assault just to have them claim a quick little province and make a seperate peace with the enemy. i doubt in real life such actions would be tolerated. A country that makes a seperate peace outside of the alliance should be expelled from the alliance and have the alliance members have a temporary CB on them.

4) It would also be nice to have the ability to pre-warn your allies of your battles plans. Lets say I am Sweden and I am allied with Poland. I want to attack Russia and want Poland to be ready for the war. Perhaps there should be a way to give Poland a message telling your plans. For instance, maybe it could allow me to alert my allies of who I plan to war against and then they know to build up their troops and put them in the proper places. Then the nation could alert me when they are finished making preparations so that I can delcare the war. It sucks when your allies are defenseless in a war that you have been planning for a decade and have built a huge force for.

These are just some ideas I had. Hope you all like them :p

1) I like that idea. Also, let's say you're the Papal States in EU II, and you decalre war on the muslim heathens, then you should be able to ask the Christian states to go on a Crusade to aid the Pope (in exchange for a few provinces...)

2) Yeah, this is good too.

3) I don't like this, cause I do it a lot. Maybe you could sort of have the choice to expel them, like a notice saying "My Lord, X has made peace with Y before the war was complete. What should we do?" YOu should also have the choice of continuing the war if the leader of the alliance makes peace (which really pisses me off as well).

4) This is a good idea too. As Austria, I want Poland (my ally) to have troops (I prefer cannon fodder) to draw the Russians to them and get wasted slaughtering each other while I finish the job.

1) Very good idea
2) alrite idea
3) You already get a Temporary CB (1 year) if one of your allies ceases fighting earlier, or if they refuse to fight in the first place.
4) Great idea, of course not only could this benefit your sucess in war, it could also lead to your deafeat. Example:

I am Austria, and in an attempt to increase my economical power I decide to declare war on venice. Before I do this I inform my allies Spain and Hungary. However because Spain has exceptionally good relations with Venice (not sure if they actually do just using this as an example) Spain not only opts to abandon her alliance with Austria but she creates a new alliance with Venice.
