I would say that it is a realist, rather than an idealist. The President may not wish to commit to this issue, but to ignore having one of our own subjugated by a foreign power would be political suicide.

~ Victor Kraus, CSN

Krakow is not a part of the Federation, and thus not of our own. If we fight Russia with the broken army we have we will lose. The Habsburg army was always weaker than the Russian army, and our army is not even on the level the Habsburg army was. We need time to rebuild the army and modernise it. If we go to war now, we'll have Russians raping Budapest tomorrow.

Krakow was considered to be in the sphere of influence of the Austrian Empire, and since we are the successor to the Austrian Empire I feel that Krakow has a right to be a member of the Federation. I do share your concerns with the Russians though, but I feel that we cannot let another nation humiliate us internationally.

The Bill takes into account that different states will require different levels of Minimum wage, and leaves it up to the states how much should be paid. And whilst they are kept at a Federal minimum, I doubt that the House is foolish enough to set this minimum at the price of a Viennese suburb.
As for your second point, in many areas the local industrialists have monopoly on work. I must admit that in Morovia the Arms industry is especially powerful, and work outside of this in Morovia is difficult to find. Therefore, for many the doctrine is not "Freedom to Work", but "Work or Starve". And for some "Work and Starve, or Starve". To discount this because of the loose existence of a wider Free Market is foolish.

However, I respect your integrity in allowing Bohemia to make it's own choices.

-Petr Šik, Czech councillor for Bohemia.

How would the Federal minimum wage be decided Councillor? Should I allow an arbirtrary decision be made to dictate how I conduct my business in my state? I think not.

You see me as being too harsh a man Councillor. I provide for my workers! You seek to reduce the competitiveness of our industries. Why if you were to increasce the rights of the workers, there would soon be a stalement between employers and employees! This could lead to a General Strike, which paralyze and cripple the entirity of the Federation! I provide enough to make employment at my industries tempting. If you are unable to do that in Bohemia, I suggest you get someone who can actually run a company.

~ Victor Kraus, CSN

You forget that we are not simply competing with our own Capitalists. We are competing with Russia, with Prussia, with France. If we fail to give our workforce incentives to stay, to remain housed in Danubia when the boat to America is so close, then we are not competing. Furthermore, the proposed Workers Councils in Bohemia are state controlled and have the ability to veto strikes. The interests of the Federation will be served through them.

And I must at this point remind you that the profitability of the Morovian Arms Industry is nearly double that of the Austrian Industries. If we have been failing to run our company, then I shudder to think what you have been doing. ((DROPS MIC))

Should the wages not be correct, no one is forcing them to take these jobs. In the end, the investors need the workers as much as than the workers need them, and we should not seek to disrupt this balance.
Of course they don't HAVE to take the job, it's just that if they don't, they starve. Your "choice" is nothing more than an illusion to make capitalists feel better about exploiting the working class.

I am opposed to the Krakowian Re-Integration Act. Venezia is going to war to free Krakow; not subjugate her. If after she is Liberated, Krakow expresses a wish to enter the Federation than fine; but let it be on the terms of her people.

((Shit just got real))

Well now Councillor, if you really feel that we are unable to compete on an international scale just yet, then why do argue against my policy of protectionism? Are you sure you know what is best for our Federation's economy? If you feel that you cannot control your own workers and citizens, then by all means, feel free to debase yourself to them and give in to their demands.

As for comparing the Morovian and Austrian Arms Industry, I feel that it is unfair to claim such a level of superiority. Austria itself is still recovering from the violence and damage levelled against it during the Civil War; whilst Bohemia escaped relativly unscathed. The fact that our industries still exist is a testament to the skills of the capitalists of Austria. If in all this time you've only managed to have your industry's size stay doubled than the Austrians, I feel that you will never get the industry in Bohemia of its feet.

Yes, but we can't fight them without an army. That's what I'm trying to say. If war broke out tomorrow, our lines would be broken before the Reserves are called in, and the Federation dies there, because believe me, we won't survive a failed war.

Encouraging foreign trade through low tariffs and open is not the same as reckless overconfidence in our industry. Again, I must remind you that unless concessions are made we will see a migration of the working class from Danubia. You are no slave owner, and when the worker's choices are leave or starve as the cost of living rises, I doubt they will have the same loyalty to Danubia or our Industry that we do.

And please, the Austrian Army attacked Prague to liberate it from the Royalist forces. If you believe we are unscathed, then I think you are becoming forgetful in your age. The Bohemian Arms industry was established and created from nothing in the last few years since the Revolutions, if I may add. But this is not an issue of state industrial superiority, as much as you may try to make it so through absurd filibuster.

- Petr Šik, Czech councillor for Bohemia,

((I love the word "filibuster", don't you?))

If I make a reminder, the Prussians, though they loath the idea of Republicans, have lost territory to the Tsar. We do not stand alone in this fight, they could very much see Krakow as a threat to Germanic integrity and also see a chance to reclaim what they have lost. I must remind you that we have a defence treaty with the Kaiser, and the Russians look very much like aggressors.
