A discussion about East vs. West - A Hearts of Iron Game

East vs. West cancelled almost 4 years ago for focusing on Hearts of Iron IV.
If they didn't cancel for 1 or 2 months, game would have been released on open-beta.
Most players like me are dissapointed i think. Is there possibility of starting developement of the game again? At least if we want it, we can put a pressure on developers; maybe they can open the "East vs. West" forum again. On the leaked version of game, game seems almost completed. Just needs minor improvements and lots of bugfixes. And if many players wants the comeback of the game, we can start a campaign.

East vs. West forum was closed. So we can discuss it on this topic, because the game planned to sequel to Hearts of Iron 3.

I doubt it. Most of the devs for that game are, I'm sure, long since onto other projects now. In the future, Paradox might release the source code for HoI3 ala HoI2 for Darkest Hour, but I don't know how many people want that sort of game when HoI4 is currently in continued development and has significantly more mod support which allows for far more variation for things like a Cold War or Modern Day mod.

I think it's down to simple economics at this point. ANYTHING PDS do to make HOI3 more attractive in any way could potentially keep people from purchasing HOI4 or one of its DLCs, so I'd say there isn't a hope they are going to do what you would like to see.

It's frustrating, of course, for people like me (us?) who wouldn't in a million years buy HOI4, but technically we're not customers, so why would they listen to us? ^^

If Hoi 4 gets an DLC which uses the new Techs (Jet Fighters, Electronics etc.) more up to the 60s or 70s that would be cool.
