Why was this game shipped out?

According to devs' own comments the game had to chose between 'functional' AI and late game performance.

Why is this a choice?
Is this not a (supposedly) working product we pay for? Why was it not in Early Access?

Why are we expected to be QA and give suggestions, unpaid work, for a video game we pay for?
Why is the community asked to be the game designers AFTER retail release?

Why is the community requested to identify problems in a product they paid for, an admittedly non 'functioning' one, while Paradox employees take vacations and their QA department is abused and underpaid?

Why do you still buy this?

Did you buy it? If so why, if not why do you spend your time complaining here? Personally I'm happy with my purchase.

Capitalism.
According to devs' own comments the game had to chose between 'functional' AI and late game performance.

Why is this a choice?
This is an interesting question which touches on a wide variety of topics and which I am 100% certain you are completely uninterested in the actual answers to.
Is this not a (supposedly) working product we pay for? Why was it not in Early Access?
Early Access basically exists to let tiny indie studios keep the lights on. Major publishers basically never touch it.
Why are we expected to be QA and give suggestions, unpaid work, for a video game we pay for?
Honestly, there is probably no price point where the result of the multiplication (copies sold × chosen price point) is sufficient to cover the cost of genuinely adequate testing of a game of this complexity.

It's a common problem across the industry; the simple fact is, people don't want to pay what it would cost to test the games they buy as thoroughly before release as they get tested after release by tens or hundreds of thousands of people playing them.
Why is the community asked to be the game designers AFTER retail release?

Why is the community requested to identify problems in a product they paid for, an admittedly non 'functioning' one, while Paradox employees take vacations and their QA department is abused and underpaid?
Paradox employees (including QA!) take vacations because they live in a country that has embraced the concept that workers have more rights than just the right to quit.

(Also, please provide evidence for your claim about the current treatment of the QA department of the studio that wrote Victoria 3. The grand strategy game studios each have their own QA team and do not engage the services of Paradox Interactive's QA team.)
Why do you still buy this?
Because I have too much money.

Because its the standard in the industry to rush games out in time for the holidays so that their stock price will go up.

It doesnt matter if the game is unfinished if it makes them money. If people could make millions by selling half cooked instant noodles, you would start seeing lots of restaurants do that as well.

All I see are walls of text from people who have posted primarily on these forums regarding bug reports, seemingly pleading for me to believe that they are enjoying this game. I don't believe it as much as I believe a slave enjoys their labor.

I don't think Paradox does forum tryouts but you're putting in good work

Could other people possibly enjoy something I don't? No, they're clearly lying to themselves. LOL

You'd be amazed what people enjoy.

As it happens, I have 4.9 hours played and haven't launched the game since Oct 29, because it has some annoying design failures and some equally annoying bugs. I've been playing other games (mostly in other genres from other companies) while I wait to see what gets done to fix this one. (Top of my annoyance list on the "design failures" side is the way prices work when out-of-market foreigners are buying your goods, which is neither fun nor realistic.)

There have been specific allegations at various points about the treatment of specific QA teams within Paradox. I'm curious to see if you have anything of substance regarding the QA team responsible for this particular product, because I prefer specific, substantiated allegations to vague or unsubstantiated ones.

And, "bonuses"? I made no claims about bonuses. Just about paid annual leave, which I don't consider a "bonus", just something every employee should get.

Cool, thanks for letting everyone know you're arguing entirely in bad faith and are completely uninterested in having an actual discussion.
