Hi everyone,

I've got a couple questions for all you modders... thanks in advance for any help or advice!

1) Is it possible to set initial technology levels for specific provinces? Like we do for buildings in history files for example? If not, can the "renaissance" mechanic in defines.lua be used to focus tech in a specific area of the map?

2) Can the actual speed of the game be changed? I mean the days/sec of each of the five speed levels is hardcoded or moddable?

1. Don't know. I think it is culture/religion based though.

You can add tech via events, so in theory you could create one off events on game startup which granted free tech to the specific areas you wanted. You can't however lower tech via events.

Other than that you are stuck with what is in defines.lua

Thanks! I found an event-based workaround for the tech issue. It was a bit long but not difficult.

Too bad we can't modify game speed! If any dev is reading, please consider making this values open to modding!

There is actually a list for petitions for moddability in the general forum if you write a thread with a request it will get on the list

Max game speed is limited by CPU load, not by anything moddable. Try the Matter of Britain mod in its current early state of development and you'll be amazed by how fast the years zip by (at least, until every court fills up with Robins and Marions if you get a version with that bugginess.)

Max game speed is limited by CPU load, not by anything moddable. Try the Matter of Britain mod in its current early state of development and you'll be amazed by how fast the years zip by (at least, until every court fills up with Robins and Marions if you get a version with that bugginess.)

Thanks Richard, I've noticed this with my mod as well. It's a total conversion with "only" 160 provinces and on max speed it goes super fast, I can basically put it on "observe" and run a couple of centuries in less than 10 minutes.

The problem is I don't want to make the game faster, I'd like to make it slower! At least the first (lowest) speed setting...
