I found a habitable planet fairly early in the game with some presentient life. After I colonized it, I was attacked by a neighboring empire. They bombed the planet, killing my starting pop, leaving me with a single 'growing' pop, which isn't growing due to a lack of food. Still, I'm not able to recolonize the planet now that I effectively have no pops on the planet (other than presentients).
Also, I found I am able to raise armies using the presentients, which was useful since unlike me, they don't have the weak and pacifist traits.
