CK2 has been on sales for less than $10 many times, 80% off for at least once last year. I wouldn't be surprised to see the vanilla CK2 included as a bonus. After all, the amount of DLCs out there for CK2 is enough to make you puke...
A copy of CK2 with EU4 pre-order?

But they're already giving away EU3 as part of the Call to Arms. Why would they give a second copy?
Its really not that unlikely. CK2 is rather popular, and I assume most people who preorder would be Paradox fans and thus already own CK2. The extra copy could then be given to a friend or something, who may then purchase the additional DLCs or other Paradox games. Or just keep them in their inventory, in which case nothing was lost. Its not like this sort of thing is unprecedented; Bioshock Infinite gave away copies of XCOM, XCOM gave away copies of Civ5. Those are the examples I can think of off the top of my head.
And again, CK2 regularly goes on sale for $10 or equivalent, so its not like they're "losing" $40 on every preorder, not to mention the bundles on, say, Amazon (like the Plentiful Paradox Pack which contains CK2 and several other Pdx games for $10). I would assume most people who would be on the fence regarding purchasing it would likely wait for a sale and debate picking it up then. In fact I believe its cheaper to buy everything related to Crusader Kings at once rather than purchasing the DLC individually, even if you got the base game free.
A converter also seems to be pretty likely; the leaked image definitely suggests it exists, and a copy of CK2 would go well with the converter. People seem to forget that the pre-order bonus DLC is just that; a bonus for pre-ordering. Its not free, its given as an incentive to purchase the game immediately, before any salles or whatnot. I highly doubt that all, most, or really any of the DLC will be free post-release.
I'm not saying its a certainty, but it would make sense annd I'm of the opinion CK2 is most likely in the pre-order bonuses.

This is fantastic. There's nothing better than having the people who make games we love do well doing it. We get more of them, with bigger budgets, and other people look around and say "wha-- maybe we shouldn't make another RTS clone/FPS clone/MMO clone".
Doom making huge stacks of money is what got FPS going, iirc. Before that, multiplayer was only added in lieu of quality. Now you can't throw a dead cat without getting arrested. After hitting an FPS clone.
Granted, we might not be quite at the Johan buying a Ferarri Testarosa point yet, and Frederick buying two so he can have one souped up, but games that make me happy should be richly rewarded, so this is great to hear.
You know, if you love the product so much, you can buy more copies of it
I did something like this with X3: Terran Conflict, I got it on sale for $5 and when I started playing it I felt bad that I paid so little for a game that is so good, so I bought two more copies Buy more, give it to a friend - and then you could even play MP with him. Everybody wins!
If you didn't have CK2 by now you weren't going to buy it...
Getting it via pre-purchase of this may make the buyer more likely to buy the remaining DLC's and expansions.
I forgot EU3 was a call to arms bonus. Maybe CK2 is the pre-order bonus, maybe it's just more dlc? I guess we'll have to wait and see
...
One of those two also bought the original CK aswell, and both are now intending on pre ordereing EUIV.
Yeah there seems to be slow but steady influx of newbies on the CK2 forums (both here and on steam). I can't believe i'm saying this cause i hate ads, but i think eu4 and crusader kings could easily boost sales with more marketing.
I saw a few ad's around the place for Oldgods, but yeah they don't get much marketing. The Old gods in this months Pc Gamer over in Britain got 90/100 one of the top reviews of the month, yet it got little over a 1/4 of a page actual writing (granted it's a DLC/Expansion) but even so for such a highly rated title you'd expect a little more in a game mag.
Then again Youtube and some sites do personalize ads for the user, if you watched a lot of EUIV videos on youtube you would be likely to get them. I always got the banner add for CKII cause I watched one CKII lets play >.>
Yeah I know, however I'm willing to bet it's because I watched a few CK2 videos recently, go after the target audience.
Also how many people have found PI grand strategy games, via Let's Plays? Something tells me they don't need to spend much more on advertisement, but then again I am probably WAAAAAY wrong and LPers only bring in a bit of sales. Everyone I have heard of play them did find them via LPs though(Edit: Myself included).
I found them through a friend who played HOI2, and we picked up Hoi3 together, then V2, then I went back n got Eu3 then CKII, my favorite is still V2.
