Just to put something in perspective, this is a 24 hour video showing all the vehicles of the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC).

It is using real GPS data. The tiny black dots are individual buses, the colored fat bars are metro trains. You really should watch this in HD on vimeo. SD doesn't do it justice.

I thought it was a really cool insight in how real transit systems work, and what we should strive to achieve in our own virtual transit systems.

Also maybe a hint to CIM to implement time-based scheduling system in CIM2. Or at least a 24 hr simulation with day/night cycle :) And allow us to schedule vehicles and routes individually.

Very cool - I'm from Toronto so it's extra neat for me.
A bunch of lines are 24hrs so I wonder why they all disappear at the end...
Big bottleneck of streetcars on spadina, as well as too many buses on Eglinton.. Too bad transit city was scrapped by Mr Ford - what a tool.

I think in the end he just used "fade to black" effect to end video on an artistic tone, but the actual buses never stopped. It was about 4am again so the traffic would have picked up again.

And it's using "timed" stop GPS info, that's why buses appear and reappear. And it is very true to real life, i was able to find buses I use the most and during specific times the video is spot on.
