The manual doesn't explain at all many details about how some issues of the game work exactly, modifiers, tables, rules that change with different patches and so on. People in the forums are "discovering" them by themselves and publishing their conclusions day after day.

I understand that it would be difficult to set everything in a manual that has to be put in the gamebox, but I think it would be a good idea that Paradox would write in a txt o pdf file available for download on this web an extensive and complete set of rules, that could be updated quickly with each modification they make.

No, that would make life too easy for the pirates.

Actually, I belive that BOTH pirates and costumers are chasing and collecting info from the web, since it seems the only way to have a complete set of references either if you have bought the game or not. BTW (I know that this is old news) the omission of a tutorial in Victoria almost surpasses the axing of Joan of Arc in EU2

I agree that we need a more complete manual. Paying customers shouldn't be placed behind pirates in the heirarchy.

Just keep in mind that a "complete" rule book becomes automatically obsolete every time a patch is issued. If you look at EU2 for example the number of rules changes made were so widespread that a rule book published at the time of retail release could very well have hindered not helped someone learning the game.

Perhaps the solution would come by giving a serial number to each sold copy of the game, and using that serial number to register and obtain access to a paradox issue with updated manuals for each version of the game... this would be a great and superb post-sale service and would left pirates off. Don't you think?

Yup, in a paradox event, she is brutally axed to death by the english king.

Seriously though, she isn't really included in the 100 year war, she is only mentioned in a couple of events. No leader, nada! :(

Remember the flak over the XP protection scheme?

I am not going to buy a game, and then jump through *any* hoop to get a manual. Or supplements to it. Why should I? If forced to do it, back to the store it goes. Followed by scathing letters to the top gaming magazines about how paying customers are treated like pirates.

Treating paying customers as theives is always top flight PR.

Treat people as software pirates long enough, and they will become one.

Password from the manual? Someone will put the manual on the web for downloading. Or a list of the passwords. Has been done before.

Serial numbers or registration keys? Worked real well for Half-Life et al

If it happens, Victoria will be the last Paradox game I ever buy.

Perhaps a step-by-step tutorial in the readme file would be helpful. This would of course be updated with new patches. As for the learning curve in the game, I think it's starting to get a bit exaggerated. Really, the only issue is making money, if this could somehow be written out in a clearer manner everything else becomes a detail.

Thats the only reason why we don't print exact rules in the manual anymore.
